| Folks… if SD surf goes MLSN………. |
Told you so...
|
| No way mls approved an ECNL team as a feeder then are we all wrong? Any thoughts? |
A little feedback from a Socal parent with a g2010 and g2016. Last summer we were at a youngers (boys and girls) tournament in Oceanside. It was ridiculously obvious that clubs like CitySC (with MLSN) has 1st, 2nd 3rd, 4th, etc boys teams for almost every age group while clubs like SD Surf (ECNL) could only field one team per age group. Extrapolate from there and it becomes pretty obvious why clubs are fighting to get involved with MLSN. |

Remember, SD Surf has their puppet teams
SDSC Surf in GA AND ECNL too. |
| You guys all need to get a life. |
Nice. Wonder what happens on the girls side. Things are about to get really interesting |
SDSC doesn't have top tier (MLSN) boys teams. The girls side is GA and the boys are ECNL. |
Just interesting that mls has allowed for a ECNL feeder team. Is mls finally playing nice |
Give it 3-4 months and we'll see where SDSC boys stand + how everything plays out. If a club gets MLSN first I'd put my money on SD Surf over SDSC. |
|
SD Surf, the better of the two will get mls next before SDSC Surf.
Only problem is SDSC Surf already has girls in GA. |

From MLSNEXT.

THIS EXPANSION WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOUSANDS OF ADDITIONAL PLAYERS AND COACHES, ALLOWING MEMBER CLUBS GREATER ABILITY TO ALIGN TEAM TRAVEL AND SCHEDULING, OPTIMIZE PLAYER POOLS, AND MORE EFFECTIVELY ALLOCATE CLUB RESOURCES. THE EXPANDED TIER OF MLS NEXT WILL BE MANAGED BY LEADING LEAGUE OPERATORS ACROSS THE YOUTH LANDSCAPE WITH A STRONG COMMITMENT TO PLAYER DEVELOPMENT. THE OPERATORS WILL FOLLOW MANDATED PROGRAM GUIDELINES AND TECHNICAL STANDARDS SET BY MLS NEXT TO ENSURE A HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCT. THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS WILL SERVE AS QUALIFYING FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT AT MLS NEXT CUP LATER IN 2026. |
It’s not MLSN. We’re not a has-been like ECNL. It’s MLSNext. |
Its sounds more like a MLSNext-RL. |

Surf SDSC a SD Surf affiliate is already GA and in this same San Diego hotbed, so the league is irrelevent ECNL or GA. From my mildly informed perspective GA/MLSN has a slight advantage in this new landscape especially if they are already paied together, but if you are a brand name ECNL club like Surf you are in great shape and no need to worry or switch leagues. Their ECNL boys will be seen now, and the girls have no reason to leave with SD Wave leasing their practice facility from Surf.
In NoVa no ecnl clubs are at the SD surf level, so MLSN/GA combo around here would stand to benefit Armour and SYC. Time will tell |
