Easily

Heights lost to Dematha by 2 and St Albans by 1. Definitely won’t be easy.

Heights could easily take care of Yorktown. Probably will.

I heard WestPo was the main organizer through a connection with a Broadneck coach so thanks for doing that. It was a good wake up call. Lots of work to do.

Was wondering how that came about. Thanks for such a fun week of lacrosse. West Po players and parents are some of the nicest folks around.

Shouldn’t be close. Yorktown by 5 or more.

Yorktown has over 1,000 boys. Heights has 275. Heights will still win.

Is there a Yorktown poster that is posing questions about Patriot and The Heights so we keep them in the news? Jealous that they have not been mentioned in several posts?

Loss to Heights and win against Patriot. This is not the same Patriot team from a couple of years ago. Yorktown is a step down from Robo and Madison right now. Yes, we know you have an “amazing” attack with an up and coming freshman. That said throwing out a laugher against Centerville, you are averaging 6/7 goals a game vs. good and halfway decent teams.

Week 4 -2024 VA Boys Class 6 Rankings

1. Robinson (5-0)

Results: Def. Faquier 17-6

Analysis: Easy win against Faquier and then a week off to prepare for Madison. Huge game on Wednesday night against the #2 Warhawks is the Game of the Week. This could be a preview of the State Championship game. The Rams follow with another important game against Region C challenger West Potomac.

This Week: 4/3 vs. Madison, 4/5 vs. West Potomac

2. Madison (3-3)

Results: Lost to Broadneck 14-5, Lost to Severna Park 8-7

Analysis: Madison looked way overmatched against a very strong Broadneck team, and then blew a late lead to fall to a good Severna Park team that crushed West Potomac. We won’t punish Madison for pushing themselves over Spring Break, as their plan is always to get tested during the regular season to prepare for the playoffs. Biggest game of the week on Wednesday at Robinson, followed by a well-deserved cupcake game against Centreville.

This Week: 4/3 @ Robinson, 4/5 vs. Centreville

3. McLean (4-1)

Results: Def. Woodson 8-4

Analysis: McLean won a closer than expected game against Woodson as the defense continues to shine while the offense continues to struggle. Two easy games this week should lead to a 6-1 start before a much tougher week with games against Sidwell Friends and Langley.

This Week: 4/3 @ W-L, 4/5 vs. Wakefield

5. Yorktown (2-2)

Results: No games

Analysis: Yorktown did not play last week. Three very winnable games this week should take Yorktown to a 5-2 start before next week’s showdown with Langley.

This Week: 4/2 vs. TJ, 4/4 @ Patriot, 4/5 vs. Marshall

5. Battlefield (2-0)

Results: No games

Analysis: Battlefield did not play and their schedule shows them with a full month off before their next game on 4/15.

This Week: No games

6. Cosby (2-1)

Results: Lost to Atlee 9-7

Analysis: Cosby looked pretty good against defending Class 4 champion Atlee and despite the loss showed signs of a being potential contender. They have next week off for Spring Break.

This Week: No games.

7. Langley (2-3)

Results: Lost to South River 14-7, Lost to Broadneck 16-7

Analysis: Langley took their lumps against two of the best public school teams in Maryland, and lost to Broadneck by the same margin as Madison. Their offense looks decent but defense has been questionable. By dropping them one spot, we aren’t punishing Langley for the losses, but they don’t have any quality wins yet and we can’t have a team with a losing record in the top six. Should be an easy week ahead with just one game against Herndon. They can try to fight their way back up the rankings the following week with Yorktown and McLean on tap.

This Week: 4/5 @ Herndon

8. Oakton (3-1)

Results: No games

Analysis: Oakton did not play last week. Two light games on tap this week gets Oakton off to a nice 5-1 start.

This Week: 4/2 vs. John Champe, 4/5 @ Westfield

9. Freedom South Riding (3-0)

Results: No games

Analysis: Freedom did not play last week. Tough week ahead with Briar Woods and Riverside on the schedule. Freedom would do well to get a split. Two losses, especially bad losses, could drop them from the rankings.

This Week: 4/1 vs. Briar Woods, 4/4 vs. Riverside

10. Hayfield (3-0)

Results: No games

Analysis: Hayfield did not play last week. The Hawks get their last potential challenge with a fairly weak Alexandria City team, followed by an easy matchup with Lewis. We are expecting Hayfield to finish 11-0, but will they be prepared to make any noise in the playoffs with no real regular season tests?

This Week: 4/3 @ Alexandria City, 4/5 @ Lewis

Also Considered: Patriot, West Potomac, Woodson

Great analysis and rankings again this week. Tough to argue with the insight/rationale - very fair assessment. Thanks again for the effort in putting this together each Monday!

Also appreciate not punishing Madison for taking on very tough MD teams (given quality of those opponents) - coaches should be rewarded for scheduling tougher games.

Seems like reasonable predictions for South County and Briar Woods. Is PVI definitely playing Hill School today? I saw it on MaxPreps but it is not on either team's page.

I dunno if Battlefield deserves No. 5. Only 2 games and won't play again until mid-month. Maybe No. 8 spot, at least until they start playing again. Other than that spot on, as usual--and much appreciated! Looking forward to Robo/Madison.
