The leader of the Arlington Parent Coalition is in APE, the organization that Miranda founded and led. So given that APE is Miranda's base, this raises questions about Miranda's position on trans rights.

If Miranda is a strong supporter of trans kids using the bathroom of their affirmed gender, as you claim, why doesn't she say so publicly?

This is a lie.

What is a lie? I was in APE and saw the leader of the Arlington Parent Coalition in the group.

Lol so someone was in the Facebook group and you make assumption that they are tied w APE? Anyone can join the group and stay so long as they are respectful.

So … they were allowed to be in the group because they were there and they were being respectful? Where’s the lie?

You’re acting as though some rando in a Facebook group is somehow related to MT or APE leadership. It’s clear you’re a troll not engaging in good faith. Like many Facebook groups there is not a litmus test on who can join. And, no, I’m not part of APE leadership and I don’t even know who you are talking about but being in the Facebook group means nothing.

Yeah but Arlington Parents for Education is not just a Facebook group. It's much much more than that and you know it. It's incorporated as a 501c4. It has a website. It has positions that it develops after polling its group. It tourts its membership as the number in its Facebook group. It puts out press releases and has a whole press operation.

So yes, I do find it rather concerning that one of these members is the leader of the anti trans group in Arlington, especially when APE's school board candidate won't make a clear statement in favor of trans kids rights.

It touts the readers and people in the group as part of the community not as “APE” leadership and takes pains to distinguish when “APE” had a position. You’re stretching so much here to make something out of this. I too look forward to forums to hear about the candidates views, including trans issues but I’m not worried because of a random person in the Facebook group. Your posts are obsessive and unfounded.

APE says right in the Who We Are section of website that its community has 1200 people in it, apparently referring to its... wait for it... Facebook group!

I think it's important that a School Board candidate leads an advocacy group with an anti trans leader in it, and will not make a clear statement that is pro trans kids rights. That doesn't concern you?

Hi all - APE Board Member here - our group rules are posted on our Facebook forum if anyone would like to take a look. Bullying comments are not allowed and are deleted or requested to be edited at our request. We strongly encourage respectful debate and disagreement. Our forum has over a thousand parents and teachers who may have different POVs on a wide range of issues (something I think is unique in todays world) but ad hominem attacks are not allowed and respect is required. Also, as we mention in our rules, the forum (aka fb group) is NOT Arlington Parent’s official platform, you can find that on our Facebook page and website at Arlingtonparents.org. We want the forum to be an asset for all arlingtonians as a place to learn from each other, ask for information, etc. Our moderators try very hard to facilitate conversation and dialogue while respecting differences of opinion. Thanks!

That doesn’t change the fact that many of your members were openly bullying teachers, parents, and administrators during the pandemic.

We all saw it so it’s pointless to pretend like it didn’t happen.

Hi Mr. APE Board Member, it's so nice that you don't bully each other in your little group. That's not what people are talking about, and you know it. It's APE members bullying everyone else in Arlington that people don't tend to like.

Hi there, I am actually Mrs. APE Board Member (3/4 of us are moms actually) I fully understand that we were on opposite sides on the open schools issue and we fundamentally disagree on both the timing and need of in-person school and that disagreement was a pretty emotional one for all sides, but I hope that we can look to the future as fellow neighbors and community members now. So, I can only hope that we can come together and work together for students going forward even though we did not advocate for the same things back in 2020. Our group is grassroots and organic with hundreds of parents and teachers from all over Arlington, but I want to also highlight and say not everyone who wanted schools open was in our Facebook group. The small volunteer leadership of APE is unable able to control the actions of every member so I am sorry if you had a negative interaction with someone in the Facebook group. Also, we did realize some folks were being branded as APE even while not in our group so our speakers now say “on behalf of APE” before every speaker to make it more clear. You can see all those remarks here: https://www.arlingtonparentsforeducation.org/advocacy-in-action (you will see remarks and letters on the budget, class sizes, mental health counselors, etc.)

We do not condone bullying and have removed members of the Facebook group based on that. What we did try to do and continue to try to do is moderate our Facebook group to have it be a respectful place. Please feel free to join our Facebook group if you want to be a part of the debate and conversation there as I don’t check this site (I was alerted to this thread and follow up post so I came back to respond). Open/remote school was an extremely emotional issue as it affected deeply our children, so I am certain there were tense moments and raised voices and unfortunately likely some hurt feelings, and I’m sorry for any negative interaction you had with someone in our Facebook group. I hope we can acknowledge our differences but see where we agree and focus on those issues going forward for our students and teachers. Thanks!

How about Miranda’s campaign helper from the last time she ran? He was much more than “someone in your FB group”.

Why was MT comfortable enough with his behavior to work with him?

Yup either a serious lapse of judgment on her part or else she was in favor of what he did and how he acted.

I hope a lot of people hold her feet to the fire in the candidate forums. Ask questions in a way that will make her put her answer on the record. If she's wishy-washy like that Tweet, I will know my answer. Hopefully Angelo is more progressive than her.

At this point, I'm writing in a candidate. Three DINOs were running, and now we're down to two. I can't vote for either of them. Maybe a true progressive candidate will run as an Independent later. They may win this time too. ACDC jumped the shark with this election cycle.

How is Angelo a DINO? He has his flaws but he does seem Dem through and through.

I definitely wonder about Miranda's Dem ties or at least those of her core supporters. I was in the APE Facebook group during her first campaign. One of the member urged non Dems to be a "Dem for a day" and vote in the Dem caucus.

Well when the winner of the Schulz board race is decided by the Democrat Caucus, what do you expect? That’s the real election. That’s the time to vote if you want your vote to count.

Ok so it sounds like you're perfectly ok with Republicans voting for Miranda in the Dem caucus. Maybe you are one of them? This begs the question of just how many Republican supporters Miranda has? and how many of the "Dems" in her coalition are DINOs?

I am close with people who analyzed the caucus votes. There were under 150 voters in the 2021 caucus that skewed Republican. The number of lies on this thread are astounding.

How do you tell who skewed Republican?

Voter database.

What do you mean voter database? How does that show anything? People don't register with parties in Virginia.

The Dems have a voter database that assesses likely party affiliation. There was a study done after the last caucus to see if claims about Rs voting was true. It was unfounded.

I would like to know how they assess likely party affiliation? Serious question.

They probably look at voting history of which primary you’ve voted in, campaign donations, and donations to other causes that share fundraising lists. Also those DNC surveys that they send out to “learn your priorities” get inputted into your voter profile.

So if all the members of the APE facebook group are part of its community, I guess the anti trans leader is a little more than some rando.

Oh the tin hat poster again, who can't even deliver an insult correctly. But seriously this is so typical with APE. They just go right to personal attacks.

If they were worried about Republicans voting, couldn’t they change the voting process?

+1

The caucus sucks. They shouldn’t endorse SB members.
