If you regularly run outside. . .

Do you run outside in weather like today?

I'm trying to add at least two cardio days to my normal workout routine (mainly weights), but I get so bored doing cardio at the gym. I'm thinking of starting running outside by adding in Mondays because I telework + one weekend day for a long run.

Today's just so gross though! Do you run outside in this crappy weather?

I went this morning.

Just watch the weather - I went out before the rain moved in (we had a lull in the rain) and the temperature was still "warm" (46 degrees). If I had waited than it would've been a steady rain and 40 degrees. So time your run accordingly.

Also, dress better. I love my thinsulate shirt for winter running.

Finally, if you over dress but than get too hot mid-run, consider making a circle back to your house, throw your outer shirt at home (I put my in the tree in the front yard) and make another loop around.

Don't let the inclement weather deter you. It's a lame excuse especially since the weather isn't even that bad (no bitter wind, no cold air temps, no dry air, etc.).

How many layers did you put on?

Sure. Did five miles starting around 6:15am, wore capri length running tights and a tank top. Totally comfortable. In rain I would have worn short sleeves.

I won’t run in ice, but that’s about it.

Just a t shirt and shorts. It honestly wasnt that cold this morning and the rain hadn't started yet. I was a bit chilly for the first 3 or 4 minutes, but once I got my pace going I was actually a bit warm (my neighborhood has a ton of rolling hills so I rev up quickly).

I would run today. I actually enjoy running in light rain.
Though Saturday, when it poured all day, I did eight miles on the treadmill. So boring.

Yup. Today's fine. I agree with others that light rain is actually kind of refreshing to run in.

This kind of weather is still so much better than running in July, in my opinion! Infinitely better!

I too will run in light rain but not in a downpour unless I get stuck and have no choice.

I hate the treadmill and will do just about anything to avoid it.

Yes.

I drew the line when it was 6 degrees where I live, but that’s it. Skipping a run isn’t an option in my mind.

I ran yesterday and it was actually pretty great, other than my shoes getting soaked and having to stop every mile or so to wipe down my glasses. (I'm too lazy to put in contacts.)

I'll take unseasonably warm and light rain to super-cold, any day.

I run in almost all weather. I draw the line at a freezing cold downpour (like freezing rain) or if temps are single-digits. Otherwise, it's just a matter of dressing for it. I love running in cold weather--much better than hot! When you're getting dressed, keep in mind that once you're moving, you'll feel 15 to 20 degrees warmer. So if you leave the house and feel cold at the beginning of the run, that's good. If you're toasty in the first half-mile, you'll be overheated shortly thereafter.

I find other things to do for exercise when it's below 50.

Not in this weather. Im a fair weather runner. Must be perfectly spring or perfectly fall. Instead I have a concept2 rower and treadmill and weights in my basement. I have a few great HIIT routines I do. The rower will absolutely whip your ass into shape.

I'm fine running in a light to mid-heavy rain, but I don't do well with temps below 30 degrees. Cold air makes my lungs hurt, no matter how well I dress.

This morning (5am) was fine. There is no bad weather, just unsuitable clothing.
