| DC gets hot and most of our kids friends go away and we don't belong to a pool. We need to get out of dodge for a month this summer. Any recs for a hotel that is like a resort that we can stay for an extended time period or a good place to rent a house? Need activities for kids during the day here and there though. They are early teens. Thank you. |
Must be in the US and prefer East Coast so can commute back and forth when needed. |
| Bayside in Fenwick |
Thank you. Also can fly back as well. Anywhere in New England anyone has liked? Need activities like golf and tennis for kids and a resort or club type place or a house with those amentities nearby. |
| No specific advice but to say that once you decide on an area, make the CC access a stipulation when you speak with your realtor. |
Thank you. |
| Maybe Bretton Woods (but I have only been there for a weekend - but not that far from Manchester NH and there are lots of flights if you live near BWI. |

Maybe Ocean Edge in Brewster on Cape Cod? I don't know what access you have to the golf course etc but I assume it's included?
Cape Cod generally is a good choice but you'd generally have to join a club separately. If you try Chatham you can play golf on the public course in town. There is a tennis and beach club in Chatham and one in Harwich with a lot of kids activities (Wychmere) which you should be able to join if you are committed to the area. |
I LOVE Brewster but would not recommend it if you are going to be going back and forth for the weekends (or if your spouse will be). Traffic is tough and there isn't an airport right nearby. But if you can stay for the month, it is great. |
| Thank you for these replies. It can be depressing here sometimes in the summer when everyone is gone or at their clubs. |
Ah, to live in a world where everyone is "at their clubs". |
| If you belong to a club here, you may be able to get reciprocity at a club at your destination (although there are usually limits on how long you can use the destination club). It's worth checking into. |
| Bald Head Island has two clubs. The Bald Head Island Club has golf, tennis, pools, croquet, camps for kids, etc. My DH has flown into Wilmington and driven there - it's about 45 minute drive to the ferry terminal. |
| 22:35 here: forgot to mention that there is a conservancy that has lots of stuff going on for kids, too. Bald Head is not everyone's cup of tea but we loooove the no cars/only golf carts and feeling separated from the "real world." |
Bald Head Island is full of insecure assholes who brag about the things they have. |
