Where can we go and rent a house this summer and possibly join a country club for the summer?

Bald Head Island is full of insecure assholes who brag about the things they have.

BHI poster here... could be, I wouldn't know. We just hang out as a family where we're there.

Ah, to live in a world where everyone is "at their clubs".

Actually the true elite are away a travel most of the summer and don’t stay here.

I think the point is, most of us live in neither of these worlds.

There's a lovely lake called Woodridge Lake in NW Connecticut that has a great club house with tennis, swimming, boating, movies, etc. Often one can rent a house there for the summer and it includes access to the club. I imagine there are similar places closer to DC but I live in NYC so this is where I know.

Cape Cod generally is a good choice but you'd generally have to join a club separately. If you try Chatham you can play golf on the public course in town. There is a tennis and beach club in Chatham and one in Harwich with a lot of kids activities (Wychmere) which you should be able to join if you are committed to the area.

I LOVE Brewster but would not recommend it if you are going to be going back and forth for the weekends (or if your spouse will be). Traffic is tough and there isn't an airport right nearby. But if you can stay for the month, it is great.

I spend the summer on the Cape and travel off regularly and it's not too bad. I fly in and out of Boston. It's certainly not as easy as a drive to DCA, but if you time it well (I aim for early or late flights) it can be fine. You can fly out of Hyannis although there are fewer flights than there used to be.

+1 look in LN or it’s sister community Timber Trails. You have to join the club to use the lake.
