Right foot more swollen than the left?

Anonymous
My right foot is a lot more swollen than my left and my guess is that my uterus is tipped to the right. I am pregnant with twins and the girl is head down camped out on top of my cervix, so i am thinking this is the rason why. With my 2 yr old my feet were swollen but both feet looked about the same. Anyone else experience this? This started right around 32 weeks of my pregnancy.

One of my feet was often the more swollen one, though they both swelled. I just think it can be uneven sometimes...

I had one foot more swollen than the other-I was grotesquely swollen. Gained 50lbs and lost 35 of it in the first week, ALOT was water However, my son was in a breech position and was never bearing down on my cervix I also have a tipped uterus, but was told that it corrects itself 12weeks onto pregnancy.

I think it just happens and is more pronounced in those of us who have severe swelling because the swelling is so significant that asymmetry is quite apparant.

Thanks for your replies! (OP here) With my first I gaine 50 pounds too and lost 40 the first week, mostly fluids. My feet were severely swollen, so badly that I could here the fluid gushing in my feet when I walked. I also had PIH/HELLP which I hope I don't develop this time around. I just don't recall one of my feet being bigger than the other, I guess every prgnancy is different.

OP, I just read your 05:19 post and before I read that just reading your initial posting I wondered about pre-e/hellp. I had twins and pre-e/hellp. I had only minor swelling but one foot was more swollen than the other. You are more at risk for pre-e/hellp with multiples than with singletons. PLEASE see your doctor today to be safe.

i'm 34 weeks and have the same problem. around week 31, both feet were a little bit swollen, but the suddenly my right foot and ankle became very swollen. some days it was fine, some days it got pretty big. my doctor told me that as long as it wasn't accompanied by any redness or serious pain (which could indicate a blood clot), it was fine. but you should definitely talk to your doctor about it.

my left foot swells more than right, but I think its because I had surgery on left knee 9 months ago and it still doesn't have the best circulation and still swells after exercise. unless it is a huge difference iw ouldn't worry

Thanks for your response. I saw my OB today and everything seems to be OK, well so far!! My BP was OK and no protein in my urine but than again I never had protein in my urine with my last pregnancy. She told me that my right foot is due to the fact that the girl is on the right side and is pressing up against my vena cava. Of course, PIH/HELLP is always on my mind and am being monitored closely this time around. I pray I can make it to my delivery date of Oct. 15th (37wks5days) but we'll see about that. I'm 33 weeks tomorrow. I'm surprised I made it this far considering my history and that I'm pregnant with twins.

So glad you checked and they said you're ok. Congratz on making it this far so far. That's really good. You're in for a TON of fun. (and some sleepless nights, but they'll just be a blur by 6 months when it truely becomes more fun than difficult.) Look into the multiples groups if you haven't already They are a great resource.

BTW, Oct 15th was on or about my orig due date. I delivered on Sept 28th last year.

Thanks! I'm sure twins are lots of fun despite how hard it will be for me. It's well worth it though!!!

WOW...so you went pretty far with your twins so kudos to you! Where you diagnosed with HELLP before or after your twins were born? Why kind of symptoms were you experiencing? High BP? Also, how long were you in the hospital?

My HELLP was so bad (very low platelet count with high liver enzymes) that I needed a blood transfusion. I just remember the mag, man did it make me feel like I was on FIRE!! I was released from the hospital a little over week after my daughter was born. She was born at 36wks4days.

My orginial due date is Halloween but my OB will not deliver twins past 38 weeks.

OP again... Of course I wouldn't mind it if they were born Spt. 30th or sooner. They will make the Kindergarten cut off date and I will not have to pay and extra year of daycare for two!!

Soo, I was only in the hospital for 5 days after they were born but I was in the hospital on bedrest for the 2 months prior. My guys were in the NICU for two weeks but I wasn't that worried about them by that point. I was so familiar with the hospital and they had already made it so far and done so well compared to what I had feared when I was first admitted to the hospital.

RE: HELLP - I was scheduled for a c-section on the 29th. On the night of the 27th/morning of the 28th I called the nurse because I was having some abdominal pains. I thought they were minor contraction that they'd make go away (which had been happening on and off). The nurse came in and after a while did more and more assessments, called the dr, described what was happening to me and the dr said she was coming in and they should prep me for a c-section. At the time I thought it was labor. I didn't learn until my 6 week appointment that I never even went into labor and I didn't know I had pre-eclampllsia until after the surgery. (The dr. knew and that's why she did a c-section right away.) They brought me to the room for the mag (fun!) and then I learned the next day or so that it became worse after delivery and became HELLPS. I know my enzymes were very low, but I didn't need a blood transfusion. The worst thing about it for me was that I didn't get to meet my babies until 36 hours after they were born and because of my being in mag treatment and them being in the NICU and also that a lot of the whole birth experience is pretty fuzzy. Did the magnesium make it hard for you to remember events surrounding the birth?

PP - forgot to tell you about symptoms. They were somewhat minor. Slight amount of protein in urine in dyas leading up to it but they were not concened with that then. Vey slight swelling. Some abdominal pain. Nausia - I threw up my dinne and I think that's when the dr decided it was show time.

OP here may I ask why you were in the hospital for 3 months? Incompatent cervix or somethign else? How far along were you when you had your babies? Just wondering why your babes were in the NICU? Was it because of your condition? Low amniotic fluid?

I did not have the abdominal pain that you desicribed or protein in my urine. It was weird that is why I had HELLP so had because there was no symptoms!

I'm surprised your Dr. did not alert you as to why they were doing the c-section early instead of the 29th and why you were put on magnesium, etc.

Oh wow...I was completely blitz the first couple of days while on the mag, high potency pain killers, steroids, etc. After the 2nd day I was used to it though. So you everything was pretty much a blur, I hardly remember who came to visit me and what I was saying?! LOL I just wanted to be alone ya know?
