I did not have the abdominal pain that you desicribed or protein in my urine. It was weird that is why I had HELLP so had because there was no symptoms!

I'm surprised your Dr. did not alert you as to why they were doing the c-section early instead of the 29th and why you were put on magnesium, etc.

Oh wow...I was completely blitz the first couple of days while on the mag, high potency pain killers, steroids, etc. After the 2nd day I was used to it though. So you everything was pretty much a blur, I hardly remember who came to visit me and what I was saying?! LOL I just wanted to be alone ya know?

Not quite 3 months in the hospital - 1 weeks. I was admitted to the hospital because the babies were measuring too far behind in size (IUGR) and my cervix wasn't crazy short but had shortened significantly in a short amount of time.

I'm sure they didn't tell me why they were doing the c-section early becuase they didn't want me to freak out. By that point they'd spent enough time with me to know I was a nervous nelly about the whole thing. After the surgery and before the mag the dr told me about the pre-eclampsia (didn't develop into HELLP until during the mag treatment, which is pretty unusual.)

My guys wre 36 weeks and 5 days when they were born, whi8ch is pretty good but they were still behind in size - 3 1/2 and 4/12 pounds. They dont keep babies in the hospital just for size like they used to, but becuase of their size hey weren't immediately ready to meet all the new requirements, like eating on their own, breathing on their own and maintaining their own body temperature. They were pretty close on all these areas but just needed a little time to finish "cooking."

By the way, my 3 1/2 pounder is now pushing 19 pounds and wearing 12 month clothes, nothing amazing but it's withint the rhelm of normal. More impressively, my 4 1/2 pounder is 23 pounds and wearing 18 month clothes. I can't beleive they are going to be one in twwo weeks and two days!

OP here...

WOW...your twinkies will be 2 soon!!! Congrats!! I could very well have my babies on thier birthday day. LOL They sound super healthy. Do you know what caused them to grow slowly? Placenta problems?

Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

Are your twinkies boys? I'm having a boy and girl.

I sure hope nothing bad happens to me like devloping PIH or HELLP again. Hopefully my body is used to being pregnant and will not go into shock this time around. LOL

I'm really surprised I made it to 33 weeks (today) with no complications yet. My OB told me at my 1st appt. that I will most likely be hospitalized at some point during my pergnancy. I reallyhope I prove her wrong!!!

I'm really not sure why they were growing slowly. Possibly placenta problems but they could not now that for sure. I think it was exacerbated, if not caused by, the fact that I'm only 5 ft 2" so there wasn't much room for them to grow.

I have two boys. This really needs to be populated, but you can see them at: samnben dot blogspot dot com. So cool that you're having one of each! Have you picked out names yet?

I really hope you have an easy rest of your pregnancy and delivery. It's excellent that you are at 33 weeks now. I think that at the time I was admitted to the hospital they told me that the best I should hope for would be 32 or 33 weeks and when I got to 32 weeks I kind of felt like every additonal day was like a bonus.

I'm wishing you the best and hoping you won't have to be hospitalized. Who is your OB? What hospital are you delivering at? How od is your 1st child? Boy or girl?

OP here Your boys are absolutely adorable!!! You can definitely tell they are fraternal. I love the pictures of the rolling around together (in striped shirts) playing with each other. Too cute!! I book marked your blog so I can see how well they are progressing.

I'm only 5ft3 and 105 pounds (well preprego weight) and my babies are currently in the 51% (girl) and 64% (boy) but it's not uncommon for twins to grow slowly. My daughter Hannah was born at 36 weeks and she was a good weight at 6lbs9oz, which surprised me, thought she'd be smaller. Hannah is 27 months old, soon to be 28 months old. If you email me @ aimeeharms@cox.net, I'd be happy to show you a picture of her.

I go to Dr. Andersen's practice in Fairfax (I live in Vienna) off Arlington Blvd. not too far from Fairfax Hospital. I figured I would keep my OB since she knew my history and what to look out for. I had her at Fairfax Hospital. May I ask who your OB was and where you delivered?
