Grace Brethern Christian School

Any current parents or feedback from past experiences with GBCS in Clinton? We are looking as one of our options for K next year. We prefer independent but it seems all the PG privates are religious.

Thanks!

Current parent with a child in Kindergarten. To be honest, I'm not really a fan. Overpriced for what you get. Also, it seems after 5th grade, parents seems to transfer their kids. Middle and high school are no good. I'm in the same boat as you. I live in Upper Marlboro directly across the street from Rock Creek Academy and that is a hot mess and when I toured Riverdale Baptist, it felt like an overcrowded public school. I applied for a few independent schools in VA and DC for 1st grade next year. If we don't get accepted, I might as well do public with what I'm getting here.

Do you mind me asking what area are you in?

I'm not OP, but PP - what other schools had you considered near Upper Marlboro? Was GBCS the only option? Did you not like other options (that are closer than VA/DC)?

I visited Riverdale Baptist, Rock Creek, Excellence, Highland Park (Sheriff Rd). I did not like any of those. However, Highland Park was not bad and would be a last resort. All of these are christian schools.

I like Browne Academy in Alexandria - I work downtown so the commute wouldn't be that bad. St. Peter's school on Capitol Hill. Capitol Hill day school was so so. We don't have very many choices.

Are you in the same area?

OP here, I am further south of you in Ft Washington and work in VA. We have toured the VA independents but also was looking at back ups in PG. We ruled out DC independent due to the commute but that may change when our child gets older. We most likely will do PGCPS lottery, but even that is a last resort IMO.

I believe both Burgundy Farm in Alexandria and Our Savior Lutheran in Arlington have bus serive to PG county.

Unfortunately, the options are still slim. Sad.

So does Potomac school. I think they start at Kindergarten.

We looked at GBCS initially. I hear it is akin to "public school". Try looking at "The Beddow Schools". They are private with campuses in Fort Washington/Accokeek.
