| When will we know the DCC, WJ and Woodward new boundaries? |
| As has been said many times before, the process will start 18 months before the school opens and be decided about 10 months before the school opens. They don't even know when the school will open, but said publically about 18 months ago said that the earliest possible date would be 2022. I would guess 2024... |
Which means that people will know by 2021 at the earliest. |
Thanks. |
No one knows the exact date, but WJ will look very different from current boundaries. Luxmanor, Farmland and GP are likely to feed to Woodward. Woodward is likely to be part of DCC. Focus on likely here and it's not certain. Just based on what MCPS has stated publicly so far. |
Actually they have confirmed 2022 as recently as this past week in statements about possibly renaming to Josiah Henson. |
| That was the Council, not MCPS, right? In which case, meaningless... If MCPS said it, please show me where. |
Thanks. If it opens in 2022 then we will know something about boundaries before that. |

How does the DCC work exactly? Are students still zoned for a home (high) school? Do they have to apply? I’m a Farmland parent with my oldest entering high school during the time Woodward would reopen.
I’m trying to figure out the best decision in terms of both house value, school/community continuity for my kids and overall financial impact. If I stay and my house value plummets because Woodward is in the DCC I am financially screwed. |
Yes, you do have a high school base area that you are guaranteed a spot in. You just rank your base area school #1, and you're in. |
And you can ran a different school #1 and your base school #2, and you're guaranteed a spot at the base school if you don't get #1. If you rank the base school #3 or more, there's no guarantee. |
| Woodward is NOT going to become part of DCC. DCC is already 20 (or is it 25?) percent of all of MCPS. They are not going to make it bigger. Don't know for certain because the boundary study won't start until 18 months before it opens, and decided 10 months before it opens. But if I were a betting person, I would take that bet, because I don't think it will happen. |

DCCC needs to end. You go to school near where you live.
Reopen Woodard. Rebuild Perry that should have never closed. |
| I agree that there’s no reason to add Woodward to the DCC. Wouldn’t it just create a new cluster with boundaries that address overcrowding at WJ and some DCC schools? Or am I missing something? |
Having Woodward be its own cluster is one option. Adding Woodward to the DCC is another. There are something like 9 options under consideration, listed earlier in this thread. |
