The school board is 12-0 Democratic because local Republicans are a bunch of rancid bigots and fascists, and the good people of Fairfax County vote accordingly, against that. If Republicans ran candidates who had a basic sense of human decency, they would compete, and win a few seats. Democrats would be a majority anyway based simply on so many Fairfax County voters liking Democrats. But we get to a 12-0 monopoly only because Republicans consistently prove they are unworthy of any respect at all. Maureen Brody is a fascist and terrorist who admits to getting teargassed trying to storm the U.S. Capitol in the January 6 terrorist attack. Harry Jackson is a violent wife-beating thug and rancid bigot who has no place in civilized society. Tony Sabio exposed himself on Twitter as fascist Trump trash approving of violence to keep/put Trump in power. The list goes on. The dimwits here championing this pathetic lot of losers are, well, yourselves a pathetic lot of losers.

I'm curious what you creatures on the GOP side think you're going to get for all this. You just lose everyone's respect whenever people IRL match you with your musings. Maybe you'd be happier living elsewhere? People commute from Fauquier and beyond. You're just embarrassing yourselves into getting zeroed out completely here. You're certainly not doing Pat Herrity any favors, as he tries to avoid association with his own party to keep surviving in this twilight of his career.

A viable 2-party system requires 2 parties that both behave responsibly. Only Democrats fit that description today.

Very well said.

This wasn't "well said." If it were "well said," PP would have found a few other words to use besides "rancid" and "fascist," both of which made PP look silly and unhinged. And at a time when we see on the global stage the negative consequences of extreme polarization, demonizing one's political adversaries to this degree - particularly when we all know Democrats will retain control of the School Board and the only issue is whether there's room for any contrary perspectives - is wildly over-the-top and unnecessary.

It was absolutely well said, even if you don’t want to hear it.

Fighting to overthrow election results is fascist.

DP. In a more relevant scenario to schools in FCPS, the entire Democrat School Board and Superintendent acted as fascists by overthrowing the right of members of the community to have their voices heard through the results of the survey created by the same FCPS. They did so because an overwhelming majority of parents, students, and staff didn’t agree with their proposed approach on how to teach sex-ed and the inclusion of gender identity. In the words of Superintendent Reid, “Honestly, the majority doesn’t always dictate, right?”

Come to think about it, they resemble more a dictatorship, which may be why some posters in this thread don’t seem to connect the fascists at the all Democrat School Board with the need to replace them.

The survey was flawed. Easily spammed by RWNJ parents.

It’s always a “heads I win, tails you lose” situation with the current School Board when it comes to public input.

If the input supports their position, it will be touted as “strong public support.” If it does not, the results will be ignored or discounted, with a typical pretext being that a survey was flawed.

Yet one more reason why we need more diversity of views on the school board.

The person you’re responding to continues to spam this thread with utter garbage. Report their posts.

Very telling that you think the truth is "utter garbage".

It was a flawed survey that was already extensively discussed here:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1091552.page

Anyway, the proposal didn't pass so it looks like they did follow "public opinion" after all.

So the only fascism we are left with here is the Republican SB candidate who was tear gassed at the Capitol.

I debated whether I would engage with a troll, but decided I want to see your (*credible*) links proving that any of these candidates was tear-gassed at the Capitol. Oh, and also that one of them is a “wife beater.” Provide links or STFU.

Everyone who disagrees with you isn’t a “troll”.

I didn’t post anything about a “wife beater”.

She also reposts gay slurs and other lovely material.

If you are unfamiliar with gab:
“Gab is an American alt-tech microblogging and social networking service known for its far-right userbase.[2][3][4][5] Widely described as a haven for neo-Nazis, racists, white supremacists, white nationalists, antisemites, the alt-right, supporters of Donald Trump, conservatives, right-libertarians, and believers in conspiracy theories such as QAnon,[6][7] Gab has attracted users and groups who have been banned from other social media platforms and users seeking alternatives to mainstream social media platforms.[8][9][10] Founded in 2016 and launched publicly in May 2017,[3][11] Gab claims to promote free speech, individual liberty, the "free flow of information online", and Christian values.[12][13][14][15] Researchers and journalists have characterized these assertions as an obfuscation of its extremist ecosystem.[13][16] Antisemitism is prominent in the site's content and the company itself has engaged in antisemitic commentary. Gab CEO Andrew Torba has promoted the white genocide conspiracy theory.[13][14][15][12] Gab is based in Pennsylvania.[17]” - wiki

So was that link "credible" enough for you, PP?

The GOP has some real nutters running for school board.

And to that Frisch, Meren, and McDaniel, if they were being truthful, would all say “hold my beer.”

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe any of them were tear gassed at the Capitol on 1/6 like Maureen was.

Or reposts gay slurs like Maureen does.

Did Maureen advocate to waste $60 million on an unnecessary ES like Frisch? Chase away a trusted long-time FCPS employee like Meren? Flip-flop on supposedly deeply held political views like former Jack Herrity aide McDaniel (now a far-left Democrat)?

What exactly is McDaniel “far left” on? I’ve read his website and answers to various surveys and he’s very reasonable. So what exactly are you referring to?

Please provide specifics as to the “gay slurs” you say Maureen Brody has “reposted.”

There are quite a few at-large candidates so voters certainly have options here.

It was on her gab feed posted earlier.

OK. I found the feed and without even having to register on this site came across at least one repost of a “gay slur,” along with with a lot of other reposts of far-right material.

I won’t vote for her for SB, but neither will I ascribe her views to every other GOP-endorsed candidate any more than I’d ascribe the political views of Abrar Omeish to every candidate endorsed by the FCDC.

The company people keep tells you a lot about their values.

Abrar is not on the ballot because FCDC ran her out of town and made it clear she would lose the endorsement.

Meanwhile the GOP giddily endorsed Maureen Brody and her team mates (Saundra Davis and Cassandra Aucoin) are fighting to help her get elected.

Some candidates (Bartkowski) have actually ENDORSED her. The question for them is (a) did they not know / clueless or (b) did they not care / yikes!
Anonymous
Bartkowski follows Moms of Liberty on Twitter. (one of his only 35 follows)

And has retweeted multiple tweets of theirs. And yet claims he doesn’t know much about them.

He also posts/retweets anti-trans sentiments and follows some other sketchy people/groups.

Not surprised. It seems like every Republican in fairfax county is trying to brand themselves as misunderstood independents. It’s actually comical.

Some candidates (Bartkowski) have actually ENDORSED her. The question for them is (a) did they not know / clueless or (b) did they not care / yikes!

Ilryong Moon recently sent around a flyer suggesting folks should endorse all the FCDC-endorsed candidates for every local office.

I’m totally underwhelmed by Robyn Lady’s lack of comprehension of some of the issues schools in Dranesville Hilton, facing, or the absence of any commitment on her part to address them, and accordingly plan to vote for Paul Bartkowski instead.

I also had been planning to vote for Moon, but given the suggestion that the candidates must be viewed as a slate, with all the views of each FCDC-endorsed candidate or each GOP-endorsed candidate imputed to the others, perhaps I need to reconsider the approach of focusing on the priorities of individual candidates and perhaps rule out all FCDC-endorsed candidates.

Abrar is not on the ballot because FCDC ran her out of town and made it clear she would lose the endorsement.

Meanwhile the GOP giddily endorsed Maureen Brody and her team mates (Saundra Davis and Cassandra Aucoin) are fighting to help her get elected.

And yet when Omeish spoke at a recent SB meeting and made overtly inflammatory, anti-Israel remarks, her colleagues on the all-Democratic board did not repudiate them, or her. Instead, a couple of them just left the dais for a few minutes. Not exactly profiles in courage or “running her out of town.”

Honey, she isn't on the ballot. She had to drop out because no Democrats would support her.

They endorsed her over Moon in 2019. Granted, at some point she became such a liability that they started to distance themselves from her, but it doesn’t speak well that they endorsed her in the first place. And it’s not like her politics are that different from some of the other Democrats running for office now. It’s just that she was saying the quiet parts out loud with all the noisy rhetoric about jihad, settler colonialism, etc., and they didn’t like that.
