BTW i still can't believe he said he had no assets during the bankruptcy hearings but he has sold well over $6k now, probably more....

ugh apparently he's flying out this saturday to start his new life in Dubai with our money.... yay Maryland justice system, the state where you are rewarded for being a thief and a crook. He get's to start that airbnb he's always wanted....

Family too?

No idea. I'm guessing because of how weak and ineffective the legal system is there's probably no rush for his family to move. But if they do they have all that cash they stole from us waiting over seas so its probably at best an inconvenience to them.

I did, at least about the moving sale but this is the first I've heard of the expat to duba groupi. Omar Helmy ot Amr Elrahimy did spend alot of our money in that airbnb venture in Dubai already. It wouldn't surprise me if thats where all our money is being hidden.

Why are local prosecutors handling what sounds like an international fraud case? Have any of you contacted the FBI? They’re really good about getting results

FBI looked at it years ago but this all started with scamming of homeowners on home improvement contracts before it grew into bankruptcy fraud, PPP loan fraud, and IRS concerns. Unfortunately, this put MHIC as the lead and this was well beyond their ability. Painter breaks a window they will help you get it fixed. Contractor manipulates their system to steal millions and they are lost. Maryland prosecutors could pick this up but no one wants to put in the work and they point back to MHIC being the starting point. It is almost as if they all are willing to see him get away so they can blame it on MHIC. Looks like a turf war.

So mhic screws up again, omar gets away scott free, no one at mhic faces any consequences, no one has to lift a finger, and its the homeowners that have to eat a turd sandwich? What about Sameh Raouf Elrahimy from GPC? He made money off of his brother, can't they get him as an accomplice to the fraud? Its been in all the cases that they are intimately connected or are they gonna pet him pass with a nod too?

From the MHIC website: "MHIC investigators actively work to enforce the Home Improvement Law by coordinating with local prosecutors' offices throughout the State, and by continuously educating homeowners about the risks and dangers of hiring unlicensed contractors. MHIC depends upon licensed contractors and homeowners filing written complaints against unlicensed contractors. Each month, MHIC investigators make approximately 75 appearances at criminal trials against unlicensed contractors."

Maybe, just maybe, they ought to put a little effort into monitoring, tracking, investigating and convicting their licensed contractors that steal millions from Maryland residents?

How about allowing unlicensed contractors to turn in fraudulent "licensed" contractors?

I figured he was looking to get out of the country because of the tax fraud and PPP loan abuse. Like the lawsuits he can blow off but the other stuff is what caused other fraudulent contractors to go to jail. I think with Omar leaving the country Sameh is going to be screwed. Based on the court documents Optimum Construction was essentially offsetting GPC shortfalls so since he's out I would hope the OAG would be monitoring incoming money more closely...

What would be poetic justice would be for those that are going to have egg on their face if Omar leaves the county is that they go after what remaining family and business associates remain. Let them feel some pain from Omar's actions like his victims have. Maybe the next time they see something like this happening they take action versus passively supporting.
