Is this the beginning of the end of an era? I guess time will tell.

Challenging coaching situation - lots of girls decided not to play and it was hell for the girls that did play. But, one coach quit near the end of the season and as PP noted, the head coach was fired this week. It's a shame because Sofield built a competitive program and there's a lot of talent on the team. Hopefully, they can rebuild with a new coach.

Stability and expertise at the HC position makes all of the difference.

BI had it for several years. Saints obviously has it. SR now has it and GC has also had it for a number of years. PVI is also now there. Leads to very strong programs with lots of depth and healthy JV teams. To be successful, teams need talent at all 4 grades not just a couple. And you can see it when teams take the field. HCs draw talent and build it.

Absolutely. Well said.

Stability and commitment is all it takes to create a culture for girls lacrosse.

In the case of Ireton, I am happy to see that the AD took action after observing the tremendous downturn in the program and morale of the team.

These coaches ruined the season for the 2022 class and the 2023's who all quit playing this year was a testament to how they chose to "coach" these young ladies. They were given the keys to the castle and instead of respecting and honoring it, they chose to destroy it, quickly.

Hopeful the school finds solid coach and staff that want to actually understand how important their role is not only on the field but off the field as well. They should take this as a lesson, go continue their careers and start a family. forget ever coaching again until they do some real self reflection. You shouldn't do this "part-time" and if you do then you shouldn't expect "full time, committed" results. Treat the team well, lift them up instead of crushing their spirits. Be bigger than the drama and elect instead to build them up instead of pitting them against each other.

Best of luck Cards. Lot of folks pulling for you.

DD plays for another WCAC JV team and she mentioned observing the BI JV team running punishment sprints after the loss.

Hopefully they bounce back because they do have a really talented 2024 class and some other talented underclassmen.
