Blankets in crib - when did you start?

Anonymous
My daughter is 13 months and I still do nothing in the crib. At daycare she sleeps with a blanket on a cot.

Her room can get drafty and I feel like she would be more cozy with a blanket. When did you guys start allowing things in the crib? Nothing in crib is still burned in my brain!

I haven't started yet. My DS is 18 months. He still uses a sleep sack. I am not planning to switch to loose blankets until he's out of his crib, because I like that the sleep sack deters him from climbing (should he develop the inclination to do so).

Never. Sleep sack and blanket in toddler bed/twin.

My doctor said 1 yr. He wouldn't really stay under it until he was 2 though

Sleep sack until
About 18 months. DC refuses it after. Blanket actually staying on around 2 years 3 months

Even if you give her a blanket she won’t be able to sleep under it enough to stay warm. Get a wearable blanket/ sleep sack.

Not until they were in beds. Sleep sacks until then.

Never, per Pediatrician. Sleep sack and no pillow until toddler bed.

+1 and Dd is 21 months. She moves around a ton in her sleep so a blanket wouldn’t help anyways

This was around 2.5 for my older one. Younger is still in a sleep sack at 20 months and I don't see switching him to a blanket anytime soon.

Around 2

Even if you give one this early, it's extremely unlikely to remain covering your child for more than a few minutes. In my experience, they don't really learn to sleep in a fixed position until about 2 or 3.

When they outgrew the largest wearable blanket. That was around 2.

Really? Interesting. My almost 3 year old is still in a crib (because she just shows no interest in getting out and why change it?) so she has a blanket she stays under now. Gave it to her at 2 when she refused the sleep sack.

13 months and no blankets? Ridiculous. Something light that breathes, not too big. Just fine.
