Blankets in crib - when did you start?

We use crochet blankets - lots of holes in them. have never used a sleep sack. Two warm pairs of footie pajamas and a few loose knit blankets.

+1 on the crochet blankets. This was what we gave when we first started giving a blanket to our kids (probably around 20-24 months).

OMG, so so so sad. Please, don't give blankets to babies. Talk to your ped about when it's safe to do it after they get older. Why take any chances??

Because if you never take any chances you'll never live life. Should you also quit your job and never have your kid in a stroller on a sidewalk or in a car? Both are extremely dangerous.

Are we women seriously handwringing about whether to give a blanket to a 13 month old toddler?

Ladies, this is pathetic.

Exactly. Read the guidelines everyone! The question was about a blanket for a 13 month old - a toddler! Toddlers can have blankets. Toddlers, by definition, do not die from Sudden INFANT Desth Syndrome.

This thread is bizarre. My husband was most insistent that my son was cold by 6 months and kept sneaking a baby blanket onto him. It was the crocheted kind.

I’m paranoid and our current residence isn’t so cold so we do wool sleep sacks only this time around.

But yeah....obviously blankets are ok for toddlers. My son was sleeping buried under blankets and pillows by 2. He still sleeps that way.

I heard recently that the AAP is debating “back to sleep.” It looks like flat syndrome (massively increased) is connected to learning disability.

Of to be argumentative (as I’m the one who had their twin die, but I still used blankets occasionally), but it’s considered SIDS in anybchikd <12 m

I don't listen to "ladies" when it comes to the safety and health of my children. I listen to our pediatrician. He said no blankets or pillows until the age of 2. And guess what? They have wearable blankets, so it's not like my babies are or were ever cold. You can achieve the function of a blanket without as much risk with wearable blankets. So there's no need to take that chance.

Good speech. Maybe that's the speech that the mother gave as a eulogy for her 7-month-old baby.
