Ed Sherran and Beyonce

I really like Ed Sherran's song Perfect. I've been hearing the recent version with Beyoncé and for some reason, the more I hear it, the more I don't like it. Usually I'm not this affected by music -- but this collaboration in particular just isn't working for me. While I like Beyoncé, I feel like her voice is kinda shaky in this particular song and she's is trying to make the song "grander" than it is. I just don't think she does the song any favors...

I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same.

I think she ruined that song. And I really like her and have been following her since the Desinty Child days. It just didnt mesh well with the R&B influence.

I agree. It's like she's trying too hard.

I liked their collaboration. I thought it was powerful.

She ruined the song. Sounds horrible

Shes over-singing in the song making it sound unbalanced and hard to listen to. Which works fine when its just her own voice on a track but when its next to a smoother more monotone voice it sounds terrible.

Agreed.

The issue for me is that it's a pretty song and Sheeran has a pretty voice. Beyoncé doesn't have a pretty voice---she has a strong voice which sounds great in pop songs but not in acoustic love songs.

Remember Susannah Hoffs from the Bangles? She has a pretty voice that could have worked. Or Mazzy Star or literally any other vocalist with a softer voice and experience with acoustic.

Another agree, love the song, love the idea but she was trying too hard and it just didn't flow.

I didn't like it as much as the original but I still did like it.

Beyonce is generally overrated.

I hate this version. She totally ruined it.

They sound fine together, I like when they harmonize together. And Beyoncé sounds great as usual. However even though I'm not a Beyoncé stan (and I like Ed Sheeran okay) I don't really understand why she agreed to re-do a gender swapped duet of a kind of lame song that's been out for months. It surprises me that she would be on board even though Perfect had crazy commercial success and so will the duet. Wonder how he convinced her. I know Beyoncé doesn't really get radio play anymore with her songs (why is that anyway?) so maybe that has something to do with it.

I haven't heard this song and don't know the original either but I thought Ed and Beyonce sounded great together during this Stevie Wonder tribute.

Beyonce has been stepping out of her comfort zone lately. She performed a country song not that long ago at the CMAs (? I think) and she did really well with it.

She has a good voice and I have no issue with her branching out a bit. Not everyone has that ability - she does.

So agree. I wish her stylist would learn to use spanx properly. Just a side note.
