Seems the rich drive sexier Euro SUVs from Porsche, Volvo, Audi and Land Rover. Also Tesla. Seems only middle class and uber drivers and I guess police drive Tahoes and Suburbans and Ford Explorers. Oh and rental cars are often domestics.

| You're leaving out a whole set of cars -- Japanese.. like the Toyota Camry, and Honda Accord, which are usually the top-selling passenger cars in the US. |
| No. But caring about cars as status symbol signifies low class in DC. |
| Old American cars are popular among political conservatives and old money types. It’s not really a middle class status symbol. I think VW epitomizes middle class status. |
| YOu are onto something. A lot of my coworkers (GS14 Feds, single income family) drive these and only these vehicles. |

Okay...sure. Whatever you say, OP.
|
| Doesn't this sort of thing get old? |
| Not if it's a suburban with D.C. Tags. |
= WOTP mansion? |
| Well I'm middle class and drive a Subaru. How does that fit in? Cause there are a lot of us in that category. |
|
Wait, so is OP's observation that rich people drive expensive cars?
Stunned. |
| To me it signifies someone who’s stupid. The Suburban/Tahoe/pickup trucks I can understand (not that you see a tom of pickup trucks in DC) but I can never for the life of me understand people who waste their money on cars like Malibu’s and Tauruses and Escapes. Pieces of junk! You’re much better off with an accord or Camry or CRV. |
| I don't own a car and ride on a WMATA bus so guess I am a poors. |
Tahoes and Suburbans aren't cheap, it just doesn't seem like sophisticated wealthy families here are drawn to them. This is $70,000.
