Somebody is going to flame me for even asking this, but here it goes:
I am looking to replace my Gucci "classic" pumps. I've worn them to death and, to add insult to injury, our dog chewed one of the heels off last week. Gucci apparently does not make these anymore. I am looking at the Laboutin "Simmer 100" pump as a possible replacement. How does it fit compared to the Gucci? My feet run a little wide, but most Guccis fit me really well. I don't want to deal with sending them back if they don't fit reasonably well, so I thought I would reach out to the DCUMs to see if anyone knows this. |
| Man, do I wish I was in a position to answer your question... |
| Louboutin |
Thanks for the spelling help, but how do they fit? |
| I think you need to post your question on NY's urban baby site..! I am sure you could get a few answers. |
| Many Louboutin styles run small and narrow. If you go to the website for Saks it normally tells you how the specific style would fit. |
| Why don't you try them on? There's a Gucci store in Friendship Heights, on the same block as Saks and up the street from Neiman's. |
I don't need to try on the Guccis. I've got a couple of pairs and they all fit perfectly, but they discontinued the pump I need to replace. It's the Louboutins I wondered about. From a PPs description doesn't sound like they are right for me, so the search for a suitable all-around pump continues. |

It's not just size - every designer has a foot model they use. Conceivably, it could not be cut for your foot in the same way as a Gucci.
I generally bump up a half-size in Louboutin. I'd either order two sizes and see which one works best or go into Neiman's or Saks and try them on. |
| I have a pair of boots from Louboutin. While they are my true size (I haven't gone up in size), they do tend to fit a bit smaller than my other shoes so I could see going up a 1/2 size. I got mine on sale so I didn't have much choice. Lucky you, I wish I could by myself a pair of pumps! They are beautiful. |
| Have you checked out netaporter.com? They have a selection of Louboutin shoes. You can exchange or return any shoes that don't work out, provided that the shoes are undamaged and only worn on a carpeted surface. |
| I find that Gucci I would wear my normal 40 but I ususally have to go up a size for Louboutin same with Jimmy Choo. For my foot they run a little small |
| I wear my true size in Gucci (37.5/7.5), but wear a full size up in most Louboutins (38.5/8.5). Try Saks in Chevy Chase. They carry both brands, so you can try them, even if they do not have the exact style you want. |
| I think it is strange that on this site where most people are talking about more budget-related things that we are discussing these expensive shoes. Our HHI is well over 500K and I would still never spend that kind of money on shoes! |
Good shoes make the walk of life so much nicer.
Actually, there are studies that show people are judged re their salary, level of success, credibility, etc. by their shoes and their watches. And according to my podiatrist, the majority of foot-related problems are caused by cheap shoes. Better shoes fit and mold to the foot better. I own some Chanel shoes I've had for 15 years and they still look great. Quality lasts and good shoes can be a realy investment. Think of all the money I saved not having to replace shoes. |
