| A little while ago my friend came over and we were sitting on my back porch hanging out. It was very dark back there and I hadn't realized my friend had slipped her shoes off. My dog who is not a puppy and hasn't chewed a shoe in years went to town on one of her designer sandals. I didn't realize it because I thought he was chewing something else and that she still had her shoes on. The next day I told her how sorry I was and that I would buy her a new pair when she goes shopping next. Well she just bought new sandals and they are $200! I can't afford this right now. What do I do? Payment plan? Ugh. |
| You don't have $200? |
I'm on a tight budget. I have it but $200 is a lot to me at this point. |
| Pay to replace the shoes your dog chew up up. |
Then you can't afford a dog. What happens if your dog gets sick? |
|
Sigh. You shouldn't have offered to replace them, then. Pay half now and requests a bit of time to pay the rest. |
|
You already said you'd buy them, which is the right thing to do.
Go watch the Sex & the City episode called A Woman's Right to Shoes (with Tatum O'Neal). Same premise. |
Exactly what came to my mind, too! You have to replace them, OP. |
| Buy them and cut back on other things. Go on a rice and beans diet but your Conscience will be clear . |
|
payment plan. $100 this month $100 next.
|
Unless it means your missing a tent or mortgage payment and have no cc for emergencies pay now. You will recover the $$. |
|
Tell her "I am so sorry about what Roscoe did to your shoes. While I don't have $200 to give you right now, I have adjusted my budget and you will have it by January 1." Or whenever you can have it to her by.
(But I kind of do agree with others - what if your dog got sick and needed a vet? That would cost more than $200.) |
i know replacing them is the right thing to do, that was never in question. I just wasn't expecting them to cost $200. That's the part that's hard for me right now. |
| If you can't do $200 at once then why don't you do installments ? |
And your friend probably wasn't expecting your dog to chew them up. If you can afford an animal, you can afford to pay for the damages it causes. It's part of the responsibility of being a dog owner. |
