He's not your standard latte liberal that's really a common around here (Hillary crushed Bernie in the primaries). Lee Carter calls himself a DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST.
How did he get elected? |
|
No, Hillary actually did not crush Bernie.
Where ya been? So what makes this guy a socialist? |
| Manassas ain't redneck country no more. |
| She did in the Washington area. This is the epicenter of Establishment Liberalism. |
But it's not Park Slope or Portland either. |
His opponent was a Republican. They will be losing elections left and right for the next few years. |
GOP tax plan and VA taxes. Assault weapons. |
| Because Manassass is actually Guadalajara Norte now. |

There are two things at play. First of all, 5 of 6 delegates flipped from R to D. So it is likely about the national/statewide politics than the candidate.
Second, the number of Republicans voting in Governors races has been flat since 2009. Meanwhile, the Democrats have grown from 30,000 votes to 75,000 votes today. What caused the shift? It's not immigration alone, as someone suggested. The growth in voter participation is 56% over the past three elections. But the growth in population is only 33%. That indicates that previous nonvoters are waking up and participating more. |
Not really. I went to a high school that was 55% Latino. Virginia is still painfully white. |
| A lot of young white people like the social democratic governments in northern Europe. Why not Manassas? |
There werent any asians or AA in your school in manassas? |
He says he is. |
"Mexican" is not a synonym for "people who speak Spanish and come from the Americas south of the US". You probably know that. |

In Prince William, times they are a changin. Top five in, bottom five out. No more GOP in the House of Delegates from PW County. Unbeleivable. Corey Stewart must be in shock.
