Do you have any thoughts, or have you heard things in your neighborhood, about how Fenty got his kids into Lafayette? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/28/AR2009082803544.html |
enough already |
I agree. Do we really another 'I hate Fenty and we know better than anyone else exactly what school his kids should attend' thread? |
The OP is probably not aware of the thread in the DC Public Schools forum:
http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/12636.page In response to OP's question, I live in Fenty's neighborhood and a number of our neighbors faired poorly in OOB and charter school lotteries. They had to decide between attending the local DCPS schools (one of which is not good enough for Fenty and the other of which is even worse), attending private schools, or moving. I'm sure they all would have loved to have been able to tour several high-performing DCPS schools and then choose the one they would like their children to attend. There is a basic unfairness in the fact that Fenty alone had that option and just about everyone in the area with whom I've talked is quite upset about that. |
And there are parents in other parts of the DC who have even less palatable in-boundary schools who are also quite upset by the hypocricy. His unwillingness to speak with the press about this makes him look like a jerk, as well. |
The rules for OOB were changed specifically for the Fenty's. See the other thread under DCPS and the Washington Post story. By the way, to the poster who said this is about "I hate Fenty". Wrong!! Fenty is a typical, lyiing, cheating, hypocritical, above the rules of law, etc., just like all the politicians. He is no worst or better than his peers. So, it is not that I hate Fenty, I despise all of them. |
OP here. Jeff is right that I had not seen the other threads -- my apologies for not .looking. And thanks for the info. |
