| It doesn’t work. Accounts don’t activate. Reports are incorrect. Can’t we ditch it already? |
| Well, you can. |
Actually, I can’t —I’m a teacher. |
| SOmeone is probably getting a kickback for it, so no. Most likely you are stuck with it. Just like all the other useless MCPS initiatives. |
|
| It's working for me (a parent). I don't know about the teacher end of it. |
|
I thought it was working for me but now that the OP mentions it both of my kids have several major subjects that haven't been updated since September.
It's one thing for teachers to be a little behind but since the mid quarter just passed, there are too many for something not to be wrong. |
| I've found all of the tech interfaces for McPS to be terrible. I couldn't get their kindergarten jumpstart program to load. Instead of troubleshooting it, they offered to lend me a laptop with the kindergarten program preloaded. What a waste! |
| I found that the phone app wasn't updating last weekend (8 days ago) but the computer version was working then. In general, the computer version has been more reliable and easier to use than the app... |
| Sure, let’s spend 50 million on a new boondoggle... |
|
Hey, we just started using it - it'll take a year to sort out everything, and the best way to help it to keep reporting all the glitches, OP.
|
All the teachers at my kids' back to school nights (3 different schools) were bashing the system, yet all the parents I know have had a really positive experience with getting their credentials, setting up accounts, accessing records, etc. I wonder if this is another issue where the teachers have all just been wound up to oppose change, rather than an objective assessment of a new system? |
What a mean thing to say. How about MCPS has really made an effort on the parent end, because they know from experience that if anything goes wrong the parents will clamor and complain, but teachers got the short end of the stick because MCPS can't get their act together to make an all-around good product? |
I agree! Had a DS starting K this year and tried out the K Jumpstart program. What a huge waste. It was a crappy program that did not work well and MCPS probably spent a good deal of money to implement and promote it. Sorry OP. MCPS is just crappy when it comes to tech stuff. Our ES has issues with the wireless internet going out almost weekly. Which would be fine except that they are required to also most of their work on chromebooks by 5th grade. |
Can’t afford workbooks to teach kids handwriting. Can’t afford more Teachers. Can’t afford language instruction for ES kids. Can’t afford to upgrade the HVAC system. But we can afford to implement underperforming tech initiatives. |
