Cap Blue 25 was awesome, and the 26 team is great, but the 27s and 28s stink. With the program headed in the wrong direction, it might make some parents reconsider the old Cap Blue model and some top BLC girls might jump ship. Prior to this summer that had never even been in question, which is why Cap Blue/BLC parents are on here coping constantly.

I expect the Capital program will continue to attract a certain type of family and player who values good culture and a business-like approach from the club. Capital will attempt to weed out the culture killers, even if it sacrifices lacrosse talent, which will ultimately be better for everyone involved. The mission is not to win games; the mission is to get girls recruited and that requires players and families who are recruitable.

Maybe in theory this is how Capital hopes to operate, but in reality this is not the case. If Capital was worried about culture killers, the 2028 team would not include certain players and families. But since that class was so weak, they probably didn’t have much choice. Plus, what KJ wants is what KJ gets, so you’d better be on her good side if you want to be on Capital.

Please forgive my ignorance, this will show how little I know about the local lacrosse infrastructure. But why is KJ a decision maker for Capital? Doesn’t she run stars? Wouldn’t it make more sense for her to develop the Stars high school program vs assisting in selecting Capital rosters?

Stars is the C team, Capital Orange the B and Capital Blue the A. Anyone on any of these teams that goes to SSSAS to play for KJ will have a leg up for all things lacrosse. Ask anyone who's been around the DMV for a while.

As a current Capital parent I can tell you that this is no longer the case. Maybe for Orange or Stars but most definitely not for Blue.

Although winning is not everything, it is part of the equation. Based on PP, the recruiting coaches are not consistently at the lower level of competition. Which is why people on this forum have directed patented to the successful Capital.

If Capital wanted to win they would put in their best 12 and rest them only when necessary. Instead, they will play each player as close to 50% of the time as possible so everyone has an chance to be seen. Obviously they are going to lose more games following this approach, but they will have enough recruitable players, and enough juice as a organization, to end up in the brackets where they can be seen by coaches, even if they don't win those brackets. I can assure you that coaches do not care at all which team wins some random summer tournament game.

Such cope. Almost all teams play 50/50 in HS, it would be program suicide otherwise. They don’t beat HG, M&D black, YJ, etc because they aren’t as good as them. The 2026 team had a losing record last year, the 2027s stunk it up at 3-10-1, and the 2028s stunk it up at 3-9-1. The 2025 and 2026 teams did pretty well recruiting wise, but I don’t think the 2027 and 2028s will and so now the cracks begin to form. It might not scuttle the 2029 Cap Blue team, but once a viable competitor shows up Cap Blue is cooked.

Capital has placed literally hundreds of girls in D1 and the recruiting director is trusted by everyone who matters. Sure, a team may be able to compete on the field, but establishing recruiting bona fides is something that will take a viable competitor years to build. There is a big difference between having a college coach take your call, and having them trust your judgement about a particular player. That kind of relationship only comes with a long track record of not bullsh*tt*ng them.

Lol, no D1 coach in America just listens to what a coach or director of a club says, they watch film and live action of every single player they recruit. And the reason Cap Blue did well was the same as every other big program, they had great players. There is no magical relationship with a director that is going to get a marginal kid on a D1 team, again, more cope. Unless the 27s and 28s bring in more players, that team won’t have the same recruiting results as 26 and 25, and the 29s better pray that every single good m&d dc player decides to come over, or they will just be a barely top 30 team with avg recruiting results.

I can slightly agree with this take....I am not sure how much the director actually does but I am positive that the Capital brand itself means something to college coaches. To say otherwise is foolish and the same as saying the Hero's name or M&D does not mean anything to coaches. That is why people go to Capital. At the end of the day the college coaches know that the best of the best in the DMV went to the Capital tryouts where 150 girls show up and they made the team. That means something. Just like it means something to make Hero's or M&D.

Does Capital really look at the families? How do they do that? I know certain families have over-sized reputations among parents on the sidelines but how would Capital coaches know?

isnt the point of these questions to get information from BTDT parents? Who exactly would be helping the 29s? Or are only people with 29s that happen to have previous experience supposed to answer?

Don’t laugh at the YJ2029 team. They are hosting a free clinic and information session on Friday night in Bethesda for girls who signed up for the tryout. Run by a D1 Head Coach. We got the email last week and it is also on IG.
