W called it!!

Trump’s inauguration speech WAS weird! So dark and divisive. Turns out he was the American carnage. People are so tired of the negativity.

For the purposes of this discussion, the left-leaning terminally online crowd loves the “weird” narrative. But I don’t think it will resonate as well with the non-terminally online swing state voters, especially coming from some of the unquestionably weird Democrats. I think it’s actually likely to fall a little flat. This is red meat for the already-committed Democrat voters, but that’s not who the Democrats need to reach.

The same is true in reverse for other messaging from the Republicans, but that’s not the subject of this thread.

I think the average not-terminally-online person is probably as fatigued by Trump as the rest of us. I think any reminder that we’re going to be hearing about this freak for another 4 years if he wins is good enough. I’m ready for the republicans to move on to their next psychopath. Trump is getting old.

I don’t know. I see too many Trump signs in blue-ish areas for that to be true. We are very much in an echo chamber here in DCUM.

People know Trump is a creepy a-hole. That’s not new news.

I long for the days when the worst thing in politics was a half-wit neo-con. God, only Trump could make people nostalgic for Bush.

Do you seriously think that someone with a Trump sign knows or cares what Democrats actually think? Those aren’t “normal” people. Those people are baked in Trump supporters and always will be. We just need to outnumber them.

If they don’t want to be called weird, they should stop tweeting stuff like this:

“RUSSIA NEVER INVADED UKRAINE UNDER TRUMP! IRAN NEVER INVADED ISRAEL UNDER TRUMP! NOBODY INVADED ANYBODY UNDER TRUMP! CHINA NEVER EVEN THOUGHT OF INVADING TAIWAN UNDER TRUMP! BIGGEST EVER EMBARRASSMENT IN AFGHANISTAN WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED UNDER TRUMP! THERE WAS NO INFLATION UNDER TRUMP! WHAT A DIFFERENT WORLD IT WOULD BE UNDER TRUMP!!!“ https://www.politicalflare.com/2024/07/trump-goes-ballistic-in-late-night-all-caps-rampage-screaming-about-kamala-and-how-trump-is-best/#google_vignette

I mean, that’s weird. That’s objectively weird.

These are people who weren’t Trump supporters before. I didn’t see these signs in 2020 or 2016. These are new. So yes, I think they matter.

How very Ginny Thomas’ sh*t family of him to say:

“Obviously she’s not a white person…but I love Usha, she’s such a good mom.”

She’s like, one of the good ones!

+1. Not— she’s a good person, wife, lawyer, partner, human, etc. She’s a good mom. The woman clerked for John Roberts. It’s great that she’s a good mom. But if you’re entire defense of the compete human being you dated and married before you had kids is “a good mom”? I have two kids. By far my biggest and best accomplishment was raising them. But, wow would I be pissed if people attacked me and my husband said “good mom,” instead of “amazing, interesting, accomplished person who has also been a great parent to our kids”. There is a huge difference. To him, his wife is a uterus. That it. It’s gross.

Weirdo.

Well said.

Does she get any credit for the fact that she was probably the family bread winner until she quit her job? A corporate attorney makes more than a Senator’s salary of about $185k. I know he made money off his novel but it sounds like ha didn’t do well as a VC. I guess Peter Thiehl had him on salary while he was being groomed for whatever he is now.

2024 Trump just doesn’t have the same MAGA “it factor” as 2016 Trump. He’s senile and embarrassing. MAGAs won’t admit it, but it’s true.

Really? So you’ve been monitoring neighborhood signs every election?

I’ve noticed the opposite when driving home to West Virginia. The cultiest people still have their huge signs, no one else cares anymore. The energy for Trump seems down in the place that loves him the most.

And my point stands- by the time someone puts up a sign, they know who they want to vote for. Those are not persuadable voters. The Democrats need to focus on turnout, as always. Trump has never won an actual majority.

“I keep seeing on social media that they had their kids with IVF. Is that something she's mentioned in the record? If yes, isolated, that's not terribly abnormal for a pair of yuppies in their 30s, but with everything else about him, it certainly raises an(other) eyebrow about his sexuality.”

“No no Mr Vance. You don’t have to bring the whole couch in. Just fill this vial in our private room. You’ll find a broad spectrum of reading material…”

Bush just said what everyone was thinking at the time. That shit was really weird and we all had no idea it was going to get even weirder!

Who cares. She is awful. Total sell-out. Didn’t believe any of this BS but is willing to go along to hitch herself to Vance because she thought he would have power. Huge miscalculation.

This entire election is going to go down as one of the saddest in US history.
