anyone know about the "Virginia Valor Fathers Day Fiesta" or the "FPYC Fathers Day Tournament"

Their current ad says "any rec team or all star team". They will take anyone's money and don't care if its a decent experience for the kids.

And not all "all star" teams are equivalent so I don't know that matters as much. Loudoun has a program and the all-star kids practice together all season. Other clubs at the end you make the team and get a couple of practices is. It's an extension to the rec season some kids and families like that opportunity. If you don't, don't sign up.

Oh here we go again! The same whiney losers complaining about Loudoun's team in all-stars.

Ah yes. The noble travel soccer parents are back to trashing us lowly recreational soccer and our events. You must all feel so proud of yourselves.

We have our own reasons why our kids don’t play travel soccer. We enjoy this event and your childish comments won’t change that.

My kids loved rec all star tournaments put on by fpyc and herndon.

This event is crap: its not an all star tournament, the people running it are just trying to make money off rec kids.

In previous seasons it was rec parents stuck with it who had the most negative things to say about this fiasco.

Don't conflate or try to muddy the conversation. The PP has nothing to do with travel parents saying anything about rec parents. It's about the same whiney losers that complain every all star season that Loudoun is too good and should not play in the all stars.

And yet I didn't say that at all. The point I was trying to make is there could be very little difference between a rec leagues all-star team (supposedly better kids or just coaches kid and friends) vs a rec team that has played together all season and they want to play in a tournament. I was only pointing out that calling a team an all-star team can and is treated differently by different organizations.

Point taken and fair enough. I thought you were the loser that has whined year after year against our Loudoun team. Even went as far as to file a complaint with another all committee. But your point is valid that Valor has a mish-mosh of all star teams playing rec teams and older kids playing younger kids... it's a complete and utter mess because no one wants to participate in this clown show. Any organization with brains is in the FPYC tournament.

I hope they give out those dollar store sombrero medals again. Those were hysterically hideous.

Might be a blessing if it rains heavily this weekend; I recall brutally hot, stifling days as a spectator.

Thinking of you, OP! 😆

Was this the tournament with the story where a CYA rec coach quit in the middle of the tournament because Valor lied to him and told him he would only play rec teams but then his rec team played all star teams and lost like 20-0?

I still don't understand what you guys mean by "rec teams playing all-star teams". We are a CYA family and the only people playing from CYA are the newly formed all-star teams (2-3 players from each team makes up two age group all star teams). Who are the rec teams that you claim we're playing? Are they entire teams from different leagues? I just assumed we were playing their end of season all-tars, as well.

This tournament is always desperate for teams especially at the older ages, so their ad says they take anyone--.regular rec teams and all star rec teams.

Last year SYA tried to help Valor out by entering a bunch of regular SFL rec teams in addition to their "all star" teams. Apparently they told the coaches it was a regular rec tournament then the coaches showed up and were playing all star teams.

Then Valor combined aged groups because no one signed up and they had older all star teams playing younger rec teams which was not fun for anyone and the games had scores like a million to 0.
