If you are a female in the corporate world…isn't having a female boss the WORST?

For awhile I thought this was just my personal random experience. The past few years as Ive moved up in my field Ive started attending more networking events and out of town conferences. Dinners out after daily meetings have led to casual conversation about our working experience and almost all the females Ive met have admitted that our female bosses put us through hell. We all had similar stories and it made me really reflex on what type of boss I am. I really dont think I am like that and make a conscious effort to support all my team members but am curious if something happens along the way that makes women scorin and become one of "those" women bosses. Anyone else notice this? I am in accounting if it matters.

My last three bosses have been female and have been lovely lovely people.

So to answer your question, nope.

Not for me, my worst boss was an arrogant stubborn bully and a male.

Nope. My female boss is awesome and flexible and brilliant and a good mentor.

I assume if you've moved up in your field, you're someone's boss. So are you just the worst?

Those female bosses probably ended up that way because they are tired of dealing with women who, for the most part, are catty, melodramatic, inflexible, unreliable, and overly emotional.

I have only had terrible women bosses. I am female too and sure it makes me sad. I think a lot of older women think they need to step on the little people to get ahead.

I've had good and bad of both genders.

+1 - I love my female boss - she's the bomb.

My three best partners to work for are women. I seek them out now because they understand being a working mom much better than men (I know no single female partners before anyone asks). The worst one by far way a bully male.

My wife has a female boss and she (mostly) likes her. Boss definitely doesn't put my wife through hell or create extra obstacles. She's really been pretty empowering and supportive, even when my wife had kids.

The only knock on the boss isn't the traditional knock on female bosses. She's just a little disorganized and scatter-brained, which can lead to frustrations for the staff. But, that's not a huge complaint to have in the scheme of things.
