| Choose one: Car or Dog. Why would you make that choice? |
| Cat (not car) or Dog |
| Cat. They are very clean, quiet and use kitty litter which you can clean out when you get home. They are also soft and can jump high. |
| Dog. No animals that poop inside a box allowed in my house. |
|
Depends on the cat or dog in question and their personalities. I have a great dog and cat now, but have had pretty difficult ones in the past at various points.
I will take anything that loves me to pieces, snuggles, and doesn't have house accidents.... |
| Cat. Less work, less emotionally dependent. |
| Cat, for all the reasons that 16:51 mentioned plus generally less drooly and smelly. I actually like dogs all right but to live with, definitely a cat. Cats are awesome. |
| Dog. So much personality! |

I'm reminded of an old cartoon. In the first frame, a person feeds a dog and the dog thinks: "You feed me. You are a god."
In the second frame, the person feeds a cat and the cat thinks: "You feed me, therefore I am a god." It sums things up nicely, I think. |
| Dog! I've had both and I won't likely have a cat again. |
| Dog. Cats are disgusting. |
| Having a cat that sits on your lap and purrs is pretty much heaven in my book—And you don’t have to get home to walk them. Cats can be independent and affectionate both. |

I don't dislike cats. We have a couple of outdoor/barn cats. We live out in the country when we aren't in DC. I like them. The sit in my lap when I'm outside. They are great mousers. I just don't want them in the house. I don't care how often you scoop, your house smells like cat. The idea of a box of poop is gross to me. I have friends who have cats. They scoop several times a day. The house still smells like cat. This is an animal that walks around in it's poop box then tracks poopy feet all over the house. No. Not for me.
I'm not a super obsessive about the floors. My dogs get the floors dirty and shed. But they aren't walking around after sifting through poop. |
| Dog. I hate cats. |

I'd pick cat over dog - more independent, easier to care for, usually more snuggly (except for our current cat, I've always had affectionate cats). You can go away for a few days without spending a fortune on walkers. You can sleep in on rainy days with the cat snuggled in, too.
However i"d miss being out and about in the neighborhood walking the dog. I also like the goofy-ness and general playfulness of a dog. |
