| He was also an assistant track coach at Blair in the spring. I am not sure why they are not including that info..but just FYI. |
Thank you for posting that info. And to the OP because I hadn’t seen this story. What in the world MCPS?? Gross. |
|
I don’t really know how MCPS could get a handle on this. Such a large school district with so many employees. Impossible to police effectively.
|
| sh1t like this will always happen. Look at how many female teachers have been caught having sex with boys recently. |
| It's not always the fault of mcps. Do some research on how child abusers stay under the radar. Mcps can't catch them if their background is clean and no one complains. |
In MCPS?? I hadn’t heard! Please post a link. |
? MCPS is no different than most school districts in the country. Sh1t like this happens in small districts, too. That's the point. |
Maybe. But I feel like MCPS has ALOT of these incidences. Several a year! Do other school districts have such a widespread problem? I do hear this on the news occasionally and it’s usually an isolated incident. MCPS appears to have an epidemic of adults having sex with students. Maybe it would be beneficial for MCPS to take a look at why this is. Seems reminiscent if the Catholic church. Is ther e a culture of cover up? Are they just moving Teachers around to different positions like the church was doing with it’s priests? |
I’m the PP. I had heard about that one teacher at the Robert Frost school who did that, and then left the country. But that has been it. Have not heard of as many cases of female teachers as male teachers. Especially these past 3 years. |

Just read the incompetent teacher thread in this forum. The county just passes the trash or "documents" for so long that years of students are subjected to horrible teaching while the teacher is supposedly being reviewed. I have yet to see one get actually fired. In fact, usually it's the good ones who have to pick up the bad ones' slack who then end up leaving out of frustration. So it doesn't surprise me at all that someone who's a molester or rapist can fly under the radar.
I work in the county as a teacher, and as a person who works hard and wants to help kids, I am so demoralized by these types of stories. The county does tons of trainings on child abuse and neglect and reporting procedures, but it's clearly not enough. Not sure what the answer is, but I do think it's tied into the way the review process works too. |
You live in MoCo, and are hyper aware of what goes on in mcps. People who live in other districts will feel the same about their's. It's normal. Plus, as a PP noted, MCPS is huge... something like #13 in size in the country. It's bound to have its share of pedophiles. as a parent in mcps, of course, I find it troubling. But I do try to put things in perspective. Did this person have a record? Did MCPS not do a background check on this guy? We have a nationwide broken system where a pedophile teacher can go from one state to another because states don't share details. Substitute teachers are especially hard to track as they move around a lot. I went to a larger school district than mcps, and we had a lot more sh1t going on. |
I don’t think that’s completely true. If it’s one event every decade versus a dozen incidents over two years, it’s reasonable to deduce that there may be a systemic issue that MCPS should address. |
His father is security for the cluster and was security at Blair. |
| Seeing a man teaching still makes me uncomfortable. |
