| Doesn’t American Airlines have a direct night flight to Paris from IAD or DCA? I can’t find it and I know they had one at some point. |
|
Why don't you take Air France? Much better service and food.
|
| Because AF costs 10k out of my pocket for a similar flight that I was looking for and that’s too much to pay to go to Paris to have lunch and dinner. AA costs nada. |
| No. United and Air France are the only non-stops. |

American Airlines does not have a direct flight to Paris. Only Delta and Air France do and they are actually the same flight, departing from IAD. The prices for Delta and Air France are the same as well. The only difference is that Air France offers discounts for children (I think it's somewhere around 20%) and Delta does not.
If you want to take the cheapest flight to Paris, take WOW airlines from BWI and change in Iceland. I will warn you that WOW is a discount airlines and the will charge you for everything. Even water isn't free. |
The OP is talking about $10K flights...so I doubt she will want to take a cheapo airline. |
It’s business. It’s not long there. I go in on a Thursday and leave Saturday. The AA flight is pretty much free and since this client mostly paid for that, I pass the savings on when I can. And yes, I fly business or first for 1 day overseas trips. Just trying to save someone some money. |
| So, OP, is it worth $10K to avoid a connection in PHL or JFK? You can leave DCA at 3pm and arrive CDG the next morning with those connections. |
Well then you have a lousy travel agent - American only offers connections through Philly or JFK - if money is no object and you want a comfortable trip you should Air France or United from Dulles since those are the only non-stops. |

It’s just scheduling. That’s all.
Since the posters here often (collectively) have some of the best info out there, I thought I’d ask. And when I say best, I have found better info here than callling the airline. |
I am my travel agent. And don’t disagree. But no need to be snotty. |
I'd love to see a jumbo jet landing on DCA's runway. Ok, it's happened once or twice in an emergency, but it's not the typical case. Also, there is no immigration at Reagan. That's why it's Ronald Reagan NATIONAL Airport. Anyway, your choices are United and Air France from Dulles. Those are the only direct flights. United is using their new 787 on it so business class is pretty nice. On Air France, they have a few flights a day. Avoid the one on the 777, as it's just recliner seats in business. The A380 has much better seats. I'd go with United -- that plane is really new. United is pricing at $11.5k on the direct flight, round trip, for next week. It's the Saturday return taht's $8k of the price. You can find a little lower if you are willing to connect. |
The lack of Saturday stay is what's driving up the price. It's a couple thousand cheaper to fly back on Sunday, assuming you dont' mind spending another day in Paris. (I travel a lot, I know often the answer is no). |
Good point about DCA. Been a long week. Thanks for the info. It is helpful. |
