Same Halloween costume for different events?

Does your kid wear the same Halloween costume for different events? For instance, if you are going to the Halloween event at the zoo one week, farm another, or to the school's parade, do you put him or her in the same outfit or a different one?

I buy one Halloween costume a year, but sometimes my kid has suddenly decided he "needed" to be something else. I've told he needs to solve that problem himself. So, one year he borrowed a hand me down from a neighbor and changed a few things (neighbor had been Peter Pan, he wanted to be Robin Hood). Another year, he went to one event in the year before's costume.

One year when he was maybe 2 or 3, there was a shipping issue and the costume I ordered arrived on the afternoon of Friday 10/30, after the daycare party, so I purchased something in a store for him to wear to the party, and he wore the one I'd ordered to trick or treating.

So, I guess my answer is "mostly the same, but not always."

We do different but only because I really love Halloween and plan everything.

My son has been a fireman for every Halloween and Halloween-related event since he was 2 (he's now 7!). Change it up or stay the same, both are fine.

Yes, of course. I honestly don't know anyone that buys multiple costumes for multiple events. To me it seems silly and like a waste of money.

People on DCUM can be judgmental about ANYTHING.

Why not just say "yes"?

Only on DCUM.
Each event must have its own Chasing Fireflies outfit costing hundreds of dollars.
The dog too.

Usually I make one costume for Halloween, and he wears it for all festivals, parades, events, and trick or treating.

However last year we went to Mickey's Halloween Party, and the costume that was suitable for late October in DC was not appropriate for mid-September in Orlando (and could not be modified to make it suitable), so I made a second, warm weather costume.

This has only come up once, so far-- my kid started preschool last year and didn't want to wear her trick-or-treat costume to the preschool thing because it was a "family" costume (makes the most sense when DH and I are also dressed up with her). So she chose to raid her dress up box and basically wear the whole thing LOL. No cost to me and it worked out well. She seems to want to do the same this year-- she has Halloween-y-themed pajamas and will wear those to school, but we're doing another family costume for t-o-ting. I would not be willing to spend more money on two separate costumes without a compelling reason-- like a specifically-themed costume contest we were invited to or something.

(I love Halloween and am milking her interest in the three of us dressing up together for as long as it will last-- probably another year or two at most. I've never spent more than $70 on all three of us.)

Lol, me too! One of my kids' birthdays is mid-October, and she's had a costume party every year (our choice at first, then hers. She's turning 5.). We do mostly homemade costumes and I sew, so a lot of their costumes are articles of clothing that can be worn again, if they have have Dalmatian splotches or a tail sewn on.

So, yes, they sometimes have multiple Halloween costumes the same year, but I would not buy more than one, if you go the store bought route. Sometimes my kids have had one homemade and one store bought.

OP here. Thanks everyone. I love fall festivals and Halloween related stuff. I have bought a used costume for about $10 and I think I can buy another used one as well! I like the idea of the Halloween PJ as well!

We always choose 1 new costume for each Halloween --- wouldn't think to do multiple....not a cost thing just think it makes it more special to have your one "identity" and put thought into it.

Our kids are whatever is on their pajamas for Halloween. This year they'll wear their paw patrol pjs.
