One of my kids' birthdays is mid-October, and she's had a costume party every year (our choice at first, then hers. She's turning 5.). We do mostly homemade costumes and I sew, so a lot of their costumes are articles of clothing that can be worn again, if they have have Dalmatian splotches or a tail sewn on. So, yes, they sometimes have multiple Halloween costumes the same year, but I would not buy more than one, if you go the store bought route.
