Do you take your tween/teen phone at night ?

We do - too tempting for them. In summer I'm lax but school year they know they have to hand over at ten. What do you do? Of course I have one teen who says "nobody does this mom!" Sigh ....

We take it away from 14 yo dd at bedtime. It's not supposed to go downstairs

I do not take their phone.

Yes I definitely take it an hour before bed.

Nope - I want my kids to monitor themselves. They are tired at bedtime and go to sleep. Their phone is their alarm n the am.
Anonymous
No - it's the alarm that works for them. Also, one of mine is a sleeper and the other needs very little sleep. The phone has no impact on whether they get enough sleep. I may make a different decision depending on how my third acts with a phone.

yes

Mine are 13 and 10 and don't have phones yet. But when they get them, yes we will.

Yes. Phones don't belong in the bedroom- even for adults.

It goes on the charger in the living room at 9:30. We don't take it. They put it there for the night.

The lights and sounds of phones buzzing and lighting up and notifications etc aren't good for sleep even if they aren't on the phone.

It is really hard to not look if they know someone texted or they want to see what the notification was. Also just easy to get caught up in something online...and stay up later than expected.

No. I don't take it. And DH and I take our phones to the bedroom, too. I don't see why that would be a problem for an older teen or a 45 year old.

Same here. All our phones are on their chargers overnight. We use old fashioned alarms in our bedrooms.

Would you let them have a landline and a tv with cable? Because that's basically what it is.

Ha! He doesn't have one. All electronics live downstairs in our house - none of them ever go upstairs.

Yes
