I enjoy going on walks with DW and like holding hands. Since she started playing Pokémon go, we don't hold hands much anymore, which disappoints me. When we do hold hands, she's looking at the phone, soon pulling the other hand away so she can catch a Pokémon. Gotta catch them all, you know. I wish I could carve out some device-free time while we walk, but am not sure how. |
Maybe she started playing Pokemon so she wouldn't have to hold your hand all the time. |
OP, you sound creepy. What's with the fixation on hand holding. |
Troll.
I guess she doesn't like holding your hand that much because people are catching Pokemon with one hand nowadays. |
Not on a big-screen phone -- you need two hands. |
Gee, I never thought of it as a fixation. I don't have to do it all the time. But now it's like we don't do it all. I just love DW and enjoy being close to her. Holding hands makes me feel closer. But I can get by without it if I have to. |
Does SHE like holding hands when you walk? Because I don't like holding hands at all while walking. I'll hold hands for a minute or two but I'm not going to hold anyones hand for an entire walk unless it's a small child that I need to keep from running off.
I get you like to hold hands but maybe she dislikes it. |
Yes. She did before she got into Pokémon Go. We don't hold hands all the time. A lot of the time, off and on. But now it's not at all. I'm glad many of you are having fun at my expense, but I'd appreciate one or two concrete suggestions. |
Have you talked with her about it? Let her know that this is important to you?
You can also buy her a Pokemon Go Plus, that way she can catch 'em all and still hold hands! |
Pokemon Go is still a thing? Even my kids are done with it. OP it sounds like your DW may have some other issues if a computer game is that consuming. It can be a form of addiction. |
How was that response making fun of you? |
I'm gonna pretend this post is real (nobody plays pokemon go in 2017, but whatever):
1- Tell her how you feel about the lack of hand-holding time. 2- Try playing the game with her. Pokemon go is a lot more fun to play as a group. Everything that shows up on her screen will show up on your phone also, so you can help each other out finding rare pokemons and such. |
50+ people showed up for a rare Pokémon raid yesterday evening at a church in the deep burbs of Fairfax County. Yes people still play.
Op she probably just doesn't want to hold your hand 24/7. It's fine. Maybe you could hold her hand some other times like while watching a movie or out to dinner. |
Go talk to her about it. Why wasn't that your first plan of action? |
This. I know this is hugely dorky to admit, but I play Pokémon. The intent of the game is to get you out and walking around. So she wants to play and the best way to play is on a walk because you get rewards for walking. Hold her hand another time. Or, if she's always on her phone, ask that she put it down other times like during dinner or watching a movie. |
