Robert Frost middle school

Does anyone know if it is up for renovation or razing down and reconstruction? Wasn't the building made in '71?

go on to mcps website; search for capital improvement plan. It will lay out several years worth of cip.

I don't know but the classes and halls are pretty crowded so it would be nice if they created more space.

Frost doesn't need a new building - sheesh. There are plently of places in the county that need it cap improvements sooner than Frost's gleaming campus. Get over yourself, OP.

Let's see... according to MCPS (source: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/glance/currentyear/schools/03237.pdf),

Current Capacity: 1084
2016 Enrollment: 1107
2017 Projected Enrollment: 1077
2018 Projected Enrollment: 1057
2019 Projected Enrollment: 1037
2020 Projected Enrollment: 995
2021 Projected Enrollment: 930
2022 Projected Enrollment: 893

That doesn't seem crowded to me. It sounds like they need to create more students instead.

Frankly, they should think about plans to close Frost, it is so underenrolled.

It's not really under enrolled; it just looks it. Two elementary schools that should go to Frost (cold spring and Stone Mill) go
To Cabin John MS instead as Pyle doesn't have room for them. These kids then go to Wootton not Churchill like the other kids at Cabin John who went to Seven Locks ES and Bells Mill ES.

Cabin John MS is one of the few with split articulation and it sort of sucks.

What you wrote makes no sense. They go to cabin JOHN instead of Pyle... that has nothing to do with frost

My bad. Typing on my phone. Should say kids go to CJMS instead of Frost. Not sure where Pyle came from.

Despite this Pyle talk, let's get back to the subject - a chronically underused and under enrolled Frost that deserves not one stinking penny of county funds.

But, that's what I'm saying. Half of Cabin John should go to Frost. Having a split articulated middle school is really not a good idea. Paradoxically, it inhibits friendships (kids don't want to mix as much as they know which kids will be going with them to Churchill (not many) and which will be going to Wootton. It's also really sad for the kids who did make friends with the kids who go to different high schools.

I'm not sure why the county doesn't look at this situation.

First let's establish that it's "chronically underused and underenrolled". In 2016-17, it was actually slightly over capacity. There's an enrollment decline in the projections, but the future hasn't happened yet.

Really? My kid's middle school has split articulation, and I haven't heard of anybody asking which high school a person will go to before deciding whether or not to be friends.

This may be correct, but that would also leave CJMS severely under enrolled.
