Classroom placement letters

When does FCPS mail classroom/teacher placement letters?

At our ES, they place the classroom lists on the front doors the night before open house (which is usually the Friday before school starts). They use only first names and last initials. Sometimes the letters come that same day and sometimes they are late.

They post it on our school's website next Tuesday. Every school is different.

Our school sends the teachers around to introduce themselves the Thursday morning before the first day of school. If you aren't home, they leave a door-hanging packet of info.

The open house/PTA party is later that day, and kids can see what other kids are in their classes.

Emailed teacher two days before open house.

This is the VA public schools forum, not the private schools forum.

Some FCPS do this. I know that Dogwood in Reston did at one point (not sure if they still do).

We got a message saying there was a new FCPS policy that wouldn't have lists printed anymore. I'm annoyed because I like to know who is in my child's class. Does anyone know whether there is an FCPS policy on this?

I have been teaching 25 years and we have always been told lists couldn't be posted. Safety and Security.

What made you think this was a private school being referenced?

Our school told us that there was an FCPS change and teachers would be posted in SIS. This is the first year they aren't posting lists on the website. The kids are more interested to see who is in their classes but they will need to wait until the open house this year.
