Bed Bugs - What city, country and type of lodging did you get them from?

I hear India is a bedbug hotbed. Where else? Anyone got them from an Airbnb or vacation rental type place?

Oslo, Norway. Nice hotel.

They're everywhere these days. Even in fancy NYC hotels. Third world, first world, developing world, high end, low end, you can find them everywhere. And if not in the hotels, then on airplane seats, in taxis, on metros, in cabs. All it takes is just one bed bug.

It's a growing problem, unfortunately.

They are everywhere - just check out bedbugregistry.com

I would worry less about where you are going and just take proactive measures. Use eradicator spray in the hotel room or around your bed in the apartment. Zip up your luggage when not in use and store it in the bathroom on tiles, not on the carpeted floor.

Once you arrive home, place all your luggage in your garage. Slowly bring items back into the house after you vacuum the items, or put items directly into the dryer for at least a half hour on high. Use a mattress protector like SafeRest on all beds in your own home.

I leave my luggage in the car for a day or two. To bake when the sun shines

Do you really bring this with you each time? Which kind do you recommend?

Italy in a hotel in Rome.

Marriott Courtyard in Huntsville, AL.

Holiday Inn in CT. They were super proactive once they were notified. Sometimes it's just the very traveler before you. That's all it takes.

Yep they can be anywhere. I always check the mattress when I first get to the room and I found a bedbug at a Sheraton Four Points.

For the people who got them--was it a full-on infestation where you had to have the whole house treated or a more minimal thing where it was just luggage/clothes/bites?

I don't think the bedbug registry site works anymore.

Full on infestation at a hostel in London. This was years ago, before I even knew bedbugs were a real thing. Woke up in the middle of the nite and the bed was crawling with them. We hightailed it out of there immediately. It still gives me shivers just thinking about it.
