Will DC provide solar eclipse eyewear for first day of school?

With the eclipse happening on the first day of school it will be nice if the schools would help students participate. Will your school be participating?

Our JKLM school is participating with a school wide assembly to learn about it and then bringing kids out to see the exlipse. Think NASA is donating the glasses. I hope every school does a similar thing. Check your schools website!!

I think DCPS had a certain number of the glasses and schools basically had to request them/get in line. I do not think they had enough numbers for all the schools. Some schools may have found alternative ways to get the glasses. Not sure which schools have them and which do not.

If you are worried, get some for your child.

Anyone know what's happening at Deal? My kid will be new there so we haven't heard anything.

Seems best for maybe third grade and up, what do others think? Anyone know much about the degree of risk involved?

Why mention JKLM? Either name the school or don't name at all.

My 2nd grader would be devastated to miss it and I don't see any reason why he should. No risk at all as long as kids keep their glasses on. So maybe not for the PK'ers, if there aren't enough adults to supervise, but would be fine for everyone else.
