| are you happy the kids are going back to school a week early? I am okay with it.. my nephew attend PWCS and last year they started earlier and got out almost 2 weeks earlier. so yah I AM Glad with that |
|
I am thrilled.
In most places we lived they return to school the third week of August and are finished by the end of May. Starting in September and going until almost July is the dumbest schedule ever. |
Exactly |
One more ++ here! Hate that they go so late in June. Once the swimming pool opens, it is time for school to be out. By August, they are tired of it. |
| Not a fan. I grew up starting after Labor Day so I'm used to the schedule. I wish winter break was only 1 week and school ended earlier. I love the lazy summer days. |
| No! I liked the after Labor Day start. Plus this summer is a week shorter - bummer! |
| It's fine and it saves me a week of summer camp. I teach in Arlington and would have to send them to camp full time that week. Now they can go to school during my week of professional days. FCPS has a longer break in December but my own children like having the time off to visit relatives while I'm working. |
| Fine with it, but wish they'd also shorten the winter break and either start school later or finish even earlier. |
| It's only the beginning. The start date will creep earlier, and earlier in August. |
| Love it! |
Hope so. Makes it easier to do high school programs too. A lot of the start in early June when fcps still has weeks to go. |
| Not really. The Apend of August is really a nice nice time to use the local pool (which we do a lot of) and they had to cut back hours this year. If the start date moves even earlier into August I don't know how some of these clubs are going to stay open. |
| *end of August |
| I like it. I also like the two week winter break and the many long weekends sprinkled throughout the school year. We live for those. |
And you'll notice this even more when your kids hit high school age, if they take AP classes, and rush along because the exams will be happening in May, and students in other parts of the country had more time to learn and prepare because they started school earlier. |
