Tell me where he is in the pecking order

Anonymous
I have a first date coming up. I googled him. He is an attorney with a small firm and he graduated in 98. He is listed as a staff attorney. I'm not in the legal field and know nothing about legal hierarchy. Other people are listed as Sr. Staff attorney, Associate, Of Counsel, and Partner. Where does he fall in the pecking order?

I'm in IT. I do not interact with our corporate legal dept. Not a troll and surprisingly, even though I live in the DC suburbs, none of my friends are attorneys. I only met one when I filed for divorce. Not sure why your saying this is a troll.

I'm 45 and divorced. Just so we're clear, everything I know about the legal profession I learned from DCUM. Until I started reading this site, I had never heard the term Biglaw.

Because he seems to work a lot. He works late and weekends. I'm not interested in dating someone that is already married to their job. If there is a reason for it, I can understand it. But if he's trying to build his career at 40, I'm not up for it.

So you already know this. His title doesn't matter for this purpose.

You may be able to use him to get to a partner. You know trade up. It is very common for women in this area.

A staff attorney is non partner track, lower than an associate. Usually.

Ok. Thx. But then why would he still work crazy hours? I could understand it if you were 25 and trying to prove yourself. But he has to be beyond that by now. If he really just loves what he does, that's great, but I'm not interested in dating a workaholic. I guess time will tell if he doesn't cancel the date due to work.

Thanks it sounded like good digger. Bigger question is why the long hours. Maybe he is on chopping block

Jesus Christ you aren't marrying him. Go on the first date and just see what happens. Are you seriously going to not go out with him at all based on what you googled?
