Not one person demanding we can go back safely can suggest a plan to get us back safely. |
Thank you! This is true for us as well. Even the staff are socially distancing within in the office. They spread shifts out and now one of the three who handle calls and records works remotely every day. They rotate. On any given day, there’s no more than 7 people in the office at once. 2 staff, 2 doctors, and 3 patients. Schools are planning on 15 students and 1 teacher. |
They just magically think my kids should be in school and like magic the virus just vanishes! |
The point is that the virus doesn't need to vanish in order for schools to open. Because if that is the standard, we won't have school for years. What we need to do is what European countries have done: decide that school (i.e. in person) needs to happen full time and find a way to do it as safely as possible. That's why European kids are in school and are staying in school despite rising cases, because schools have NOT BEEN SHOWN TO DRIVE THE SPREAD. If you actually cared about data, you'd know that. Schools might close if there is a full lockdown, but Europeans will not tolerate a situation where schools are closed and restaurants and gyms are open. You are the one hoping for magic if you think the virus must disappear before schools can ever open again. |
Require vaccines for school entry. That will make schools safe even if the vaccine isn't 100% |
Thank you. I keep saying that but people really don't understand the structure of public health in the US, and the options available. |
They can plan anything they want but how on earth will they accomplish that? We have 35 kids in our classes. |
People are talking like everyone all over Europe is doing the same thing... Anyway: https://twitter.com/HannahFurfaro/status/1319804068932378624 "Breaking: Seattle schools won't return for in-person learning (except a small number of children who receive sped services) until at least late Jan. 2021" with a link to a story in the Seattle Times. |

Most of the precautions from spring are gone. retail, grocery, etc is back to normal. costco is a madhouse, no wipes for your carts, malls are busy. I see people dining inside restaurants. people out and about. beer farms and wineries have lines to get in, kids doing sports, ...
for many people, it is almost business as usual except wear a mask. considering all of the above, schools need to open. |
Thats exactly why we need to stay closed. You clearly know how busy places are as you are going and you are part of the problem. Bring your own wipes. Not one person can suggest a clear plan to safely go back. |
I know it would be really convenient for you if only one person disagreed with you, but it's not true. I didn't post this, but agree with it and have made similar posts on other threads. -- a parent, not a teacher |
I think we'll go back in the Fall. (someone who likes DL) |
| Biden is a “weekend at Bernies” President |
I'm sure it'd be convenient for you if only one person wanted to persist with DL. But it's certainly not. The bad outcomes, the burnout, the disengagement, and so on are starting to build, and we're not even out of October. |
