I basically grew up with Taylor Swift's music. She's 34 and I'm 33. She's from Nashville and I grew up in Franklin, TN (~30 mins away). I went to several of her shows way back when after her debut album came out. I've been to all the tours. I'm a fan, etc, etc.

But the Easter eggs are getting to be too much to keep up with. I also wish she'd stop singing about high school or relating things back to high school. HS for her has been over for 25 years. It's time to move on.

I'm nearly the same age as Taylor and you nailed it growing up on her music. It worked in my late teens and 20s, but now her peers have grown up and matured enough to realize that break ups happen, relationships end, and don't require a diss track everytime.

Her peers have families, marriages, relationships without marriage, break ups and have learned to deal with life while she hasn't. That's the price of fame.

Funny that is basically what she says in But Daddy I love him: "Growing up precocious sometimes means not growing up at all"

All of the criticisms I read here have been addresses and acknowledged by Taylor herself at some point. She is certainly self-aware.

But not self awareness enough to work on herself.

Fame really has it's draw backs as she is finding out.

Because she's emotionally stunted.

Nope, I'm 44 and love them b/c I can discuss with my teen... makes for fun conversations.

I guess you don't get the point of "So High School". Also, unless she was 8 at graduation, she did not finish HS 25 years ago lol.

Preteens or younger. Teens don't listen to Taylor.

Wrong! many of the HS girls pulled an all nighter to listen to the double album and either skipped school on Friday or went in late – at least had our school.

In my neighborhood Taylor is a big hit with the elementary age girls and their moms and teachers.

Not much interest in middle school and definitely not in high school.

Eras tour attendance matched. Lots of elementary and then women in their 30s

That matches my experience. I know several coworkers in their 30s who took separately to their daughters to the eras tour shows and counted down to the album release. The daughters are all in elementary school.

I also don’t think the timing is good given she is touring other albums but since this one is all about Matty, the longer she leaves it the weirder it gets that she is still pining over him.

Are you saying all the Swifties are a bunch of 9 year old girls? The concerts were sold out and tickets hard to get but nobody goes anymore, right?

DP. I completely agree. And I love Taylor Swift! But honestly, I'm exhausted with the nonstop grievances and revenge songs. After *every* breakup, seriously? How about breaking up like grownups and moving on quietly? Surely not every breakup is so tortured... and even if it is, it's time to get on with things.

I knew when she announced she had this album(s) coming out that it was going to be too much. She was on top of the world with her Eras tour - did she really need to squeeze out more longwinded breakup songs?

I love the new album so much and am glad that she squeezed it out! The woman is non-stop. I wish I had her stamina (and her extraordinary love life to write about

Disagree. She is very much in tune with her emotions and imo feels deeply, hence made over a billion dollars from lyrics about her life and emotions. Sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.

I think her love for this man has been going on for years. They run in the same circles and have spent a lot of time together over the years. They've partied together, collaborated on unreleased music, sang at each other's concerts. She knows him, finds him deep and attractive, he brought her to her knees... We know nothing about him and them other than some tidbits from gossip sites.

Does this sound like someone you want your kids to look up to?

Or is it possible people are reading too much to her lyrics?

My kids don't enjoy her but that is what I don't get about her appeal. It's a lot of trashing people, men, other women including a song about Kim Kardashian which is getting stupid at this point. It comes off so immature. Folklore was the one album I really liked.

I love that song. Kim was horrible to Tay.

NP. So…you have no teens in your life?

Np. I do, but she doesn't care about her or listen to her music. My 8 year old is a huge fan though.

Watch his ATPOAIM series and getting stoned with Caveh, all on YouTube, and his google art series on Mondrian. He's a gem.

I’m a HS teacher and lots of my students went to see her in Philly last year. Seniors, juniors, mostly girls.

She’s sung of it over and over and over. The clowns here think all of her songs are Blank Space. Go listen to The Archer, Mirrorball, Anti Hero, Midnight Rain, Lavender Haze- they talk about her self-perceived stunted growth and how chasing fame has altered her and her life. It’s so annoying how many people feel confident to weigh in on her as a person and artist while also knowing next to nothing about her music.
