| Is $150K -160K the normal salary for Sr. Software Developer in this area? |
| Sounds about right |
| Yes- that sounds average. Depends on experience and if it is government or corporate. |
| What does it mean here? What are responsibilities hours per week etc |
| Depends on skills and whether the developer has a clearance |
not sure where you find 160K for senior software developer without clearance. and just to be clear no one will name names for where those jobs are, but I can tell you Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Navy Federal will hire H1B senior software developers for 60 to 70K and we work them weekends also and we have more desperate to join |

Hexaware is great company to apply to.
we use them for fannie mae average salary of 66,000 since 2014 https://h1bpay.com/companies/Hexaware%20Technologies/cities/Herndon-VA/job-titles/Computer%20Programmer/salaries |
| Which companies can I find for that range of salary as Sr. Developer in DC area? I'd like to apply. |
| I think that's high. And we have software developers who are cleared. The most senior who is also management makes $150k. The rest are much less. Fewer senior jobs and harder to find. We are a dod contractor so we only need a few senior developers to lead projects and the rest are more junior. That's how we make a profits. |
Java developer with full scope poly gets you in the 170s. Full scope is the highest level clearance |
|
140 uncleared, 180 cleared
- director of software |
Can you get cleared yourself or so you have to have sponsor agency? |
No you cannot get cleared yourself. And the 180 cleared is only for an SME |
| Yes, normal range, even without direct reports. Finding that skill set in DC is difficult. |
There are two markets for engineers: govt contracting/IT DOD/IT cap1/IT fannie which cap out at 120 Then they are small innovative offices at AWS, Google, Microsoft which are developing enterprise software that is primarily for govt but could be sorted to large companies -- these demand much more recent technology and pay 180 |
