DCUM really opened my eyes. I have been living under a rock.

We applied to a local Quaker school because we liked the values, it was convenient, and they had on-site aftercare. DC was accepted. We are happy. Since I recently discovered this forum, I found out the whole thing should have been much more dramatic and stressful. I feel like we missed out. Darn.

Because we all need more drama in our lives.

OP,

I'm so sorry that you have to work. When will you find time to purchase the right "in" shoes for your child?

I want to crawl back under the rock. The anonymity makes you wonder how many of these folks there are and whether you're actually crossing paths with them all the time, but don't know it because they wouldn't dare spew such venom (or pontificate on topics about which they know jack) in a context where they might actually be held responsible for their statements.

OP,
Why do you have to be so mean and judgmental. Good luck to you! Less sarcastically, women need to stick by each other and not criticize how they feel and communicate. Seriously, be a little more selfless.

She's chosen a Quaker school for her kid. How much more selfless can she possibly be w/o turning into Mother Theresa?

Wow, just listen to yourself. Sense any contradiction?

OP, if your post is true, I find it hilarious.

I hate to say it, but too many women in metro DC have too much time on their hands--They create drama/issues where there is none. Anything can be easy, with the right focus and direction.

I am guessing she's pretending to be modest and it is not just a random Quaker school.

You obviously don't live in my neighborhood because we don't have options like that. For us, schools are stressful because public school isn't an option (DC), and all the private schools are very competitive and expensive.

Then again, aftercare isn't the main priority for most people when considering the best school for their child, so maybe you just don't care as much as others.

OP here, I could have left off the snark at the end. I will rephrase in my real personality: Since many people seem to do sophisticated analysis regarding school choice, and put effort into making choices to acheive the best results, I feel rather naive here in their company.

Actually, aftercare is a priority for alot of people. Not everyone can sit at home while someone else pays all of their bills. So, don't come at people with the "they don't care as much" attitude. It's why people care so much that aftercare is a priority.

My guess is that she now knows the code, and knows that we all know it too. So this post is saying "my kid got into Sidwell without any effort on our part at all."

How to interpret this? Either she's sincerely humble or she's being coy and boasting at the same time. I don't myself buy the "selfless" interpretation....

OP.
I thought your original post was hysterical! I got it. Your revision doesn't pack the same punch. Stand by the first one!
