Is Children's National the best place to go for all of these? Any specific suggestions? I'm in NOVA.
For Neurology, my child has seizures plus motor planning difficulties. For Sleep, I prefer a neurologist who is a Sleep Specialist as opposed to a Pulmonologist as my son's seizures are nocturnal. Thank you! |
| I can speak to genetics - Dr. Rosenbaum at Childrens is THE BEST. For ENT we went elsewhere, but only because we got in sooner. |
| Thank you! Is the ENT you go to a Pediatric ENT? |

We go to G-town for neurology b/c we had a bad experience at Children's. I hate Children's. How old is your son? I have found dev peds to be not all that helpful. They just monitor and can write prescriptiosn for therapies. But if under 4, I can see why you want to start there.
What time of seizures? My son has BRE. He has motor planning/fine motor/speech issues and ADHD. They all go along together. Medication helped my son's speech. Our biggest struggles have been with behavior. If you can find a neurologist that will be more comprehensive, LET ME KNOW. |

We LOVED Dr. Lewin at Childrens for sleep.

My son is exactly four, so we're still trying to figure everything out. His seizures were diagnosed as partial complex seizures. But they only occur waking up from a hard sleep after first going to sleep or napping. |
NP. This is true for us as well. Although we also went to CNMC for Gastro. |
My son had his first seizure when he turned 4, exactly. Within a week from his birthday. Its actually a very common age of onset. Its when they are first using certain parts of the brain, I guess. We see Dr. Zecavati. She is pretty good. Dr. Santos was amazing but he has left the area. |
Who do you see at Georgetown? |
Srry, Dr. Zecavati. |
| Your neuro can run the basic genetic tests for you also. |
| Dr Vemana in NoVa for sleep is great. |
| You should find out if any of the people you want to see at CNMC go to their other satellite offices. We rarely go downtown anymore. |

We've had awful experiences with ENT at Children's. But fantastic experiences with other departments that it seems you don't need (GI, Pulmonology).
Great experiences with ENT, and neurology/sleep at Gtown (although the doctor we saw for this is no longer there). Everyone I know who has used a geneticist has loved Dr. Rosenbaum at Children's. In theory, you'd think that having specialists at multiple hospitals would be a pain, but in reality, I found it easier to get Dr. Milmoe (fantastic ENT at Gtown) to talk to GI at Children's than it was to get Children's ENT to do so. |
Interesting. We just moved from out of state, and everyone except our primary care doctor was at the Medical University, and it was nice having them all in the same place. |
