Chipotle Sterling- Food Poisoning Outbreak

Anonymous
Chipotle looks like it's in trouble again after a food poisoning outbreak. They closed their Sterling location yesterday after reports of many getting food poisoning over the weekend.

I continued to eat at Chipotle (and the sadly closed Shophouse) through the big outbreak awhile back but is this going to be a systematic problem for them? There are other restaurants out there that rely on fresh ingredients, why does Chipotle have such a hard time with this?

I thought that when people eat chipoltle, they do it with the understanding that they will be on the toilet later because of it. I thought that chipoltle fans feel it is worth the cramps and diarrhea.

I just had food poisoning last week from Chipotle. I reported it and everything. I was told that I was the only case..:to which I responded "reported case". I'm definitely done with them, not worth the risk.

Did you eat at the Sterling location? Who did you report it to?

No, I'm not in the DMV area. I reported it to the restaurant and they reported it to corporate. Someone from corporate called and I didn't care for how she handled it. Her attitude was pretty much "no one else has reported it, nor have any of our employees been sick. I almost felt like she was calling me a liar.

No, you don't know you got it at Chipotle. You don't even know you had good poisoning rather than a stomach virus.

And to a dp, no, people who like Chipotle don't plan on sitting on the toilet afterwards. You may want to see a GI doc if this is what happens to you.

No. I never eat chipotle! My digestion works fine, thanks! I have heard from more than a few people what chipotle does to them. Maybe it's food poisoning?

It was definitely what I ate. Unfortunately it wasn't the first time. But definitely the last.

Dammit man. My kids love their cheese quesadillas.

I was hospitalised with dehydration following a bout of food poisoning after eating at Chipotle. My nurse said there'd been a rash of people in that day; and the day before with food poisoning who reported they'd eaten at Chipotle.

I'll never eat there again.

I think cheese quesadilla is safe. It's the salsas and any uncooked vegetables.

This may be the death knell for that company.

Restaurants (especially smaller ones or non-chains) are slow to recognize or acknowledge food poisoning. One the things I like to do, and advise others to do, in order to give restaurant staff a real incentive to be careful with food handling is to go back and use *their* bathroom as frequently as possible during the 24 to 48 hours following a food borne illness. It really drives the point home.

When that's not possible due to logistics, I make a mental note to go back and visit the next time I need to take nasty dump. Think of it as a literal sh*t list.

So, you're perpetuating it? Stay home, Typhoid Mary.
