| Is it safe to drive around by yourself? |
| Yes |
| Where are you staying? What do you want to see/do? |
| Safe to drive. We drive from coast to coast while there |
| uses dollars, they speak English in most places, friendly people, GREAT FOOD!, passports not required, beaches have great variety- there are many, island easy to get around drive on the right, has 3 airports for commercial flights..ur not chained to in and out of San Juan, somewhat inexpensive but other parts may make you say the opposite ( islands cost a bit more), news about economy or crime has very little to do with you as a tourist, zika threat over but wear repellent, wear lots of sunscreen or you will burn, bring back some rum and coffee, do all sides of the island if you have time as a loop |

Visit Luquillo beach and the kioscos (food stands) when you're over near El Yunque (the rainforest).
Go to the artisinal popcicle place in old San and let me know how it is (the line was around the block when we were there). |
| Very humid |
| It's like going to Taco Bell instead of a real Mexican restaurant. |
We were there over spring break. This is all excellent advice. Second the recommendations for Luquillo Beach, the kiosks in Luquillo, and El Yunque rainforest. We also loved visiting the forts in old San Juan. Also, the food is excellent. |
| Old town of San Juan is beautiful, but beaches in the city are no good. Don't run over the stray dogs. |

Happy to answer specific questions, but for such a general question:
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/puerto-rico https://www.lonelyplanet.com/puerto-rico https://www.google.com/#q=puerto+rico+travel http://www.nytimes.com/travel/guides/caribbean-and-bermuda/puerto-rico/overview.html |
Curious why you say this? |
Saying as Puerto Rico is part of the US, why should that surprise anyone? Since I've seen comments like this several times, let's all say it together...PUERTO RICO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MEXICO!!! |
| Food is excellent, but don't expect it to be cheap. |
All this and if you are going with kids, go to pigeon park in Old San Juan. We loved it. |
