I never got into it.
When they would show it at school I would either fall asleep or pass notes to other classmates during the showing. Am I in the minority? |
| It always skeeved me out. I think it's creepy and I have always actively disliked it. |
|
I like it a little, but both versions are definitely creepy.
I think I like it because the idea of a factory full of chocolate makes me very happy. |
|
I love it, but put waaaaay too much time thinking about the problems with it.
Grandpa Joe sucked. He can't get out of bed for a few decades and lets his poor homely daughter take care of him. (How is she supposed to get a date with 4 old people laying in her living room?) But Charlie wins the lotto and all of a sudden he can dance!? Grandpa Joe, if you can dance, you can work. |
They remade it recently?
I was too busy to have noticed I guess. |
| The book is tons better than the movie. The movie hasn't aged well despite Gene Wilder. It's certainly not a classic like the Wizard of Oz. |
| I was afraid of the Oompa Loompas |
| Me either. In fact, I find most Ronald Dahl books really creepy. |
| The book is wonderful and delicious. The movies are creepy. Kind of a fun creepy, though. |
Right?? I think there are great messages for kids though. I will tell my kids...you're being a Veruca Salt!!! And they get it. But yes, Ronald Dahl is pretty twisted. And the Johnny Depp version I don't love. Too much creepy. |
|
Omg I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it creepy as a kid - and still do. Whys this guy killing (?) kids in a chocolate factory ?!
and yea that grandpa was the biggest finesser |

'Never really cared for' is a huge understatement for me. I agree with op, skeeved me out.
You can throw in rocky horror too. Those songs make my skin crawl. |
I bet $1,000 you've never slept in the nude. |
|
One of my favorite movies!
Labyrinth as well |
| Why did almost every elementary school back in the day consider this movie as mandatory viewing for kids? |
