| My son is a rising sophomore. He told me that he was not invited to his friends chat group because he uses a Android phone. He was told the iPhone text message is blue color, but android text message is green color and people think it is annoying. He was not happy about that had asked his friends to add him. But they said NO. Now he thought the real reason maybe he is not popular, not like able. That's totally not true. He is a very easy going and general kid. He said 99% of his friends use iPhone, is that true? Do we have to buy iPhone for him so he can join the group chat? |
| He picked shitty people to be friends with. DD is a rising freshman and would never let what someone has dictate whether she's friends with them or not. |
| To answer your question, most kids have an iPhone even if it is a refurbished unit. |
| Most kids have iPhones. It does make the messaging different, and your son wouldn't be able to read text messages sent via computer (on iChat). |
| i've had trouble adding friends who use android to group chats. iMessages just won't go through. |
| Damn teenagers are cold blooded. I'm nervous to have them. |
| Maybe the kids don't have data plans and are using wifi? iMessage on iPhones can work on wifi and text messages won't. Maybe the kids are using iPods and don't actually have iPhones. |
One more thing, I'm a HS teacher and the majority of kids seem to have iPhones but many have androids. A few have flip phones and some don't have phones at all. |
| My 14 yr old chats all day long with a big group of friends. He has an Android, most of his friends have iPhones. But they mostly talk via Snapchat so I'd guess the platform doesn't matter for that. |
+1 |
| My android text messages are black with a dark gothic background. I hate iPhone. |
thank you for bringing us back to reality. |

Please tell your son not to take it personally.
The group chat messaging systems between android & iPhone are not compatible, with the exception of texts/sms. |
I would want my kid to be friends with these kids. |
| This doesn't sound like it's about phones. |
