good tv show to watch before bed?

Anonymous
I am looking for a new show to watch an episode or two of before bed. Ideally, it would be an hour long, somewhat formulaic, not too loud, intriguing enough to keep my attention but not SO interesting that I can't fall asleep, fairly witty and pleasant.

Previous shows that I've liked for this purpose include: Psych, White Collar, Revenge, the OC, Death In Paradise, House, Monk, and jeez I watch a lot of tv.

What do you guys recommend? Thank you!!

I've been watching The Fosters on Netflix for exactly this purpose. My taste is a bit different than yours as my previous picks have been Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, and the like, so I obviously tend toward emotional/relational, female-centric television. But it meets the requirements of pleasant and not TOO interesting.

Along this same line, I would also recommend Parenthood and Switched at Birth. Gilmore Girls is great if you've never seen it. Gossip Girl is on my list. All of these are on Netflix.

More similar to the shows you've already seen, I would suggest Covert Affairs and Medium on Amazon. Suits is also on Amazon but I've not watched it yet. On Netflix, Burn Notice may fit the bill but I have not seen that yet either.

OP again - thanks for these suggestions! I've seen Gilmore Girls through so many times now - I love that show.

Burn Notice is a good idea - I've seen some of that show but haven't binged it all the way through. It might well fit the bill.

Never saw Covert Affairs or Medium - great suggestions. I tried Switched at Birth before bed but the subtitles meant I couldn't drift off! It seems like a worthwhile show but I will have to be more awake for it.

Love Better Call Saul - that is definitely a watching while awake show for me.

NP. I was thinking of starting to watch Suits for the obvious reason but like OP, I want something a bit light and doesn't require a lot of my attention. Does Suits fit the bill?

Honestly, I just zone out to House Hunters. It's so predictable and boring that it's perfect to lull me into sleepy mode.
