looking for a new tv show to watch before bed - like Cougar Town, Gilmore Girls, Psych, etc

Anonymous
We watch an hour or so of TV to relax before bed, and just finished watching Cougar Town (don't judge - it's shockingly good!). I'm looking for a new show and hoping you have some good suggestions!

I'm looking for a gentle show that is good enough to keep my attention but not so engrossing or plot heavy that I can't fall asleep to it. Previous winners: Gilmore Girls, Psych, Monk, White Collar, House. Good, somewhat boring shows, is how I'd think of these - they are just what this insomniac needs.

Do you have any favorite shows that seem to be like these? Thank you!

Royal Pains?
Girlfriends guide to divorce?
I watch Grey's for this too...not too intellectually challenging but entertaining.
Galavant was really good...I'm bummed they didn't get a third season.

I miss Monk and Psych--those were such fun!

OP again - see, I knew I could trust you to get my taste, cause I've already seen a ton of these! Crazy Ex Girlfriend is amazing, 30 Rock we've gone through six times now, Chuck - oh how I miss Chuck!

But there's a bunch here I haven't seen before, too - to Netflix I go! Thank you!!

I started greys last week and love it. Don't know what took me so long. I too liked Cougar town! Wasn't bad. If you liked those, you definitely will like Modern Family and Big Bang theory. Also, the first 3 seasons of The office is amazing

I'd add Rake and The Detectorists to the Netflix list. (The Good Guys and The Finder were decent shows that only lasted one season.)

If you ever expand to include Hulu, two of my most favorite shows are on there--Spy and The Wrong Mans. (You and I like the same things.)

So hilarious.

We have similar taste. If you haven't watched Parks and Rec, that would be my recommendation. Jane the Virgin is great. Happy Endings is fun.

Second for Parks & Rec, Parenthood, and Jane the Virgin.

I also re-watched thirtysomething a couple years ago and it was PERFECT for falling asleep before bed.

If you're up for re-watches, I did Roseanne, Cheers, & Frazier as well.

I liked a show called Better Off Ted. Also liked Suburgatory

Have you seen Pushing Daisies?

21:47 - The Good Guys! Oh, I loved that one

if you're looking for something light, "clean", no violence - Hallmark Channel has some great programming. And this is coming from someone who's DVR is filled with lots of reality TV, over the top, gratuitous programming. I think that I like to watch Hallmark because it reminds me of the shows I used to watch when I was in HS in the 80s. And it's a nice change from all that other type of programming.
